New Tiny Butterflies & Buttons – Mini Sewing SALE

The Doll Maker’s Room by Shannon Cooper
I sooo love Shannon’s tiny, filled-to-the-brim sewing scene! Here’s a bit from her blog post:
Sometimes the smallest of things spark the greatest happiness. Whether it comes in the smile of a newborn baby, a kitty jumping in your lap for a snuggle, or an espresso macaron, finding joy in your everyday life is essential. Lots of times it is just there waiting for you to see it.
Joy presented itself to me via Alpha Stamps in the form of a 1:12 scale Vintage Sewing Table, which is nearly as nice as a warm kitty in your lap. The Vintage Sewing Table led to a 4 x 4 inch square room box to put the table, followed by a shelf… well, when it was all said and done, I had the makings of a little sewing room and I couldn’t have been happier.
I tweaked the idea of a sewing room into a little doll maker’s space early on, mostly after assembling the Tiny Spice Rack into a ribbon holder. Don’t ask how that translated into “doll maker’s studio” because I couldn’t tell you. It just sort of happened.
The 1:12 Wall-Mount Mail Holders Set (swoon!) were turned into bitty bins for fabric, patterns, button cards, and even a silly rabbit. I really love those holders! After assembling them, I slathered modeling paste over the surface with my finger, left them to dry, then painted the holders with white acrylic paint. They were sanded a bit, given a blotchy floral paint job, and finally aged with a smidgeon of watered down brown acrylic paint. They are pretty cute in a very rustic sort of way. It works here, I guess. I mimicked the paint job on the spice rack for cohesion.
Aside: see those cute cherries used as curtain tie-backs? They’re also part of the FREE Gift kit below!

Two cute 1:12 scale fireplace screens are new today (see photo at right). Which led me to put together a “Fireplaces” collection (and now on sale)! A big mix of things from 1:12 chipboard fireplaces (3D or facades) to collage sheets to a tiny fireplace in “Dollhouse for a Dollhouse Scale” (1:144 scale).
Those reminded me of a fun Halloween room box with a fireplace that Shannon Cooper made — all the supplies are on sale, too (eye candy below)! Plus I added a big bunch of bonus supplies (details down in the “recap” section).

Sit a Spell Mini Room Box by Shannon Cooper!
Woohoo! Bring on the Halloween “orange, green, purple and black”! Shannon built a fun little Halloween scene in a 7×7 Corner Room Box that is packed with tiny little props, all perfectly painted or labelled to coordinate with the theme.
With lots of furniture in a small space, Shannon made good use of the Shallow 3D Fireplace.
I fit a 1:12 Corner Cabinet, Shallow 3D Fireplace, a Tall 4-Panel Art Nouveau Screen, and a Chaise Lounge Kit that I made many moons ago in a 7×7 Corner Room Box.
I started by painting all of the furniture and the edges of the room box black, then assembled the pieces before adding scrapbook paper. The Shallow 3D Fireplace is super easy because all of the detail work is already done on the Victorian Fireplace Collage Sheet. Just cut out the parts and glue in place. The mantel is a rectangle of basswood painted black. Easy peasy. The tutorial for assembling and upholstering the chaise lounge can be found here.

The Beekeeper’s Workshop by Connie Littell
Connie’s The Beekeeper’s Workshop project is such a delight. The structure is a 7×9 Corner Room Box so you can get a sense of the sizes (and ’cause it’s part of the sale)!
Here’s a bit of the text from Connie’s blog post to get us started:
I adore bees, they are some of nature’s most indispensable creatures. At one time, my husband and I had the privilege of being beekeepers and got to observe their social interactions up close. We fed them through the winter and they provided us with delicious honey in the summer. I sold our honey products at the local farmer’s market every Friday morning. We carried homemade soap, beeswax candles and assorted containers of sourwood honey from our homestead. Our kitchen was the setting for all the sticky messy bee-related activities. Years of daydreaming about having a separate space just for that purpose was the inspiration for this miniature workshop.
Connie provides lots of tips on putting the scene together and how she made tiny honey jars and bee decor.

Filling Easter Baskets Room Box (also by Connie)
This is such a sweet (and happily colorful) project for spring. And a good example of the 7×7 Corner Room Box. The supplies from this Filling Easter Baskets Room Box project are also on sale!
A bit from Connie’s intro:
I used a Small Trinket Shelf Stand to display the finished baskets. It comes with a drawer that fits at the bottom. I chose to leave it out in order to give myself more room to display everything. Before assembling it, I used the rear wall as a template for the paper on the top shelf.
I added two of the 1:12 Shelves on the right wall of the 7×7 Corner Room Box, and framed a few sweet bunny prints using the Mini Frames Set and images cut from the Peter Rabbit and Bigger Bunnies collage sheets.

Starting with the Skinny Little Shadowbox – 2×4: a simple fold-together mini shadowbox (approx. 1″ deep). You’ll just need some white glue for the corner flaps.
The 2 colors of new Slip Covers and the Gothic Window Shadowbox Lid with Overlay fit this box. See the photo at right: the overlay is sized to create a 3D effect.

Laura Carson made a Miniature Conservatory (with faux stained glass windows) that would be beautiful sitting on a windowsill.
Laura used 2 of the Mini Conservatory Accordion Books (and cut the panels apart so she could sandwich stained glass “windows” between each of the 2 matching panels). She then used metal hinges to hinge the panels together.

Kitty Cat Buttons?!
Such a cute group! Some were used in a sewing-themed kit about a decade ago (!), others are new. (Check farther below, too, as they’re shown in artworks AND they’re in the Free Gift Kit!)
Artwork with buttons! Oh, these are just adorable! Both projects include one of the Big Eye Anime Cat Buttons.
First is the Cute As A Button Tin by Shannon Cooper.
Beside the tin and the button (artfully framed), the little girl is an image from the Thread Trading Card Cuties Collage Sheet (and the project includes a tiny spool that the cat button is sitting on… more info on those is farther below).
The wide photo below is a close-up of Kitty Photo Holders by Kristin Batsel. So cute!
Kristin painted 2″ wooden blocks, plus 1-1/4″ wooden wheels, each a different color. “I sanded all the edges, inked them a bit, and then covered each side with a different paper, cut a little smaller than the side of the block. One side of the blocks got kittens and a couple of tiny buttons, while the reverse side got some adorable children. After I adhered the images, I lightly sanded each one to distress the surface.”

How sweet are these little 1″ by 2″ tins? I made a couple shrines with the ones I had, and then begged Leslie to send me at least 5 more. The tins come with a sliding lid, and I still plan to try a design incorporating the lid, but for now: tiny shrines. I started out making little fairy shrines. The backs of the tins are covered in scrapbook paper. Tiny wings from a collage sheet are added to create fairies, who dance on beds of moss amongst the smallest of mushrooms, made from floral stamens.
