Mini Jack-o-Lantern Pails & Trick-or-Treat Candy; FREE Gift!

Aw… tiny pumpkin pails! I was inspired by the 3D candy pails in Shannon Cooper’s Tricks and Treats artwork (see the wide photo below). Shannon actually carved those from styrofoam (then added a layer of clay before painting) but the new Pumpkin Pails Collage Sheet has some easier ones, still in 1:12 scale.
Plus there are tiny candy boxes and wrappers in the new sheet (see the collage sheet page for some extra photos showing the back of my samples at right: using a Wooden Flower Pot or Small Wooden Spool as a base — I’ve added those to today’s sale, too). Those 2 wrapped candy bars in the center front of the photo used a snip from a wooden coffee stir stick to add a bit of dimension.
Back to Shannon’s project for a sec: I love the text she added to the Mini Creepy Signpost (I’ve also put the Tiny Halloween Carnival Signage Collage Sheet on sale, as it has pre-made signs that fit the signpost).

BOO! New Halloween Block Overlays & Box Tops!

Short & sweet (and very cute)!
I’ve brought back the original 3 sizes of Cube Boxes (and cute Halloween art using the smallest one is farther below)… and there are 2 new in-between sizes (so you could make a big stack of fun Halloween blocks like the photo at left). Though you’d decorate them better than my 5-minute example!
There’s a preview of the new Halloween Cube Overlays on that top 1″ block (backed by Orange Cardstock: easy and colorful!) and the bottom block is the same 3″ size as the close-up at right. The spider on the top is also from the Halloween Cube Overlays (available in FIVE sizes — each set has 9 tiles (letters for spelling EEK and BOO, plus a cat, a spider, and a crescent moon).
That 3″ close-up also shows the new Halloween Faux Box Tops on 2 sides (over either solid cardstock or prints from the Dark Halloween 6×6 Paper Set).
Those faux box top sets each have four strips (TRICK, TREAT, and 2 zig-zag borders). Your choice of FIVE sizes (each set has the same 4 strips but in different sizes). You could buy 2 sets if you’d like TRICK and TREAT on all 4 sides (or zig-zaggy borders on all 4 sides).
Halloween House Blocks by Shannon Cooper
I love these EEK blocks! Super cute and super easy to make. Here’s a brief intro from Shannon’s blog post:
Because I want to make all of the Hallowe’en things, but locking myself in the craft room and ignoring my family is frowned upon, I crafted some quick EEK blocks for a friend. Tiny House Jewelry Pieces became row houses on top of 1″ blocks. I made crepe paper medallions and glued a vintage button on top, then added plastic letters to the front of each block. The houses were painted and decorated with collage sheet images, and that was that!
A couple more tiny details: Shannon added snips of Black Dresden and Half Scale Widows Walk Fencing as fencing; and a tiny bat flying over the tallest house (I subbed a newer bat with the same shape).

Quirky Things by Rhonda Secrist
How cute is that?! Rhonda’s new Quirky Things project is in half scale (1:24 scale) and she filled her tiny bookcase and cabinet with tons of tiny treasures.
First, she used the new Short Arch Top Facade Bookcase – Half Scale on top of the new Half Scale Kitchen Cabinet (with the doors left off, but with the new Gothic Arch Kitchen Cabinet Doors used as doors so you can see inside).
She also used the new Gothic Bookcase Overlay – 1:24 over the bookcase. That facade was designed to be used over the bookcase (omitting the curved facade — see photo at left) but Rhonda switched it up and flipped the bookcase 180 degrees so she could use both… pretty cute idea, too!
Here’s a bit of the text from Rhonda’s blog post as a preview:
I needed a unique spot to show off my quirky things and this Short Arch Top Facade Bookcase along with a Half Scale Kitchen Cabinet was perfect. Especially with the addition of the new Gothic Arch Kitchen Cabinet Doors and Gothic Bookcase Overlay. My items are super small, so having this super small combination was fantastic.
Do you see all of the lovely framed art? Simple to create using some Embossed Mini Antique Frame Stickers and images from the Half Scale Books & Things Collage Sheet. Simply place the frame sticker over the desired image, cut out, and done.
The miniature books were another easy creation. I ran some 1/2 Inch Chipboard Tiles through my sticker machine, then placed each book cover image onto the tiles and folded the front and back covers over. I used a gold acrylic marker to the “pages” to make the books have even more quirky character.
More highlights from the close-up pics below:
– The Small Metal Urn and Cast Metal Jack-in-the-Box Toy in the center frame (easily painted cast metal… like some new metal goodies farther below).
– The airplane at far right is also painted cast metal.
– The Teardrop Perfume Bottle and Mini Powder Jar on the top row of the bookcase (shown in the same far right panel)

Wooden Tin Stands, Potions, Halloween Trims, FREE Gift!

Tins on wooden stands?! I may have gone a bit crazy picking out some wooden candlestick holders and other finials to photograph with tins. Note there are some art samples below using some wooden stands. (AND there are two new options shown directly below, and in the photo at right).

Potions Cupboard Altered Tin

I love the creepy, old-and-rusted look of this tiny tin by Shannon (she used a chunk of wood as her tin stand but this tin actually inspired this whole group)!
Starting my tour with the base of the inside of her tin: so clever how Shannon added a simple rectangle of chipboard to make a faux drawer (and the Half-Round Drawer Pulls to complete the look of a drawer).
Proceeding to the bottom shelf: note that Shannon moved both vertical dividers of the shelf insert to the middle shelf (so she’d have a wide open shelf). There’s a skull with a creepy pearl eyeball, plus a tray with moldy vegetables and a tiny potions bottle with a beetle label (see the wide close-up photos below for a better view). By the way, there’s a set of pie pans that would fit perfectly on that shelf for that tray (just add some ink to tarnish it gold/green).
Moving up to the middle shelf: there’s the larger version of the potions bottle (with an old crone label), tiny metal cauldron (just clip off the loop or hide it behind some foliage), rolled scrolls, a skull image behind a vitamin E pill on the scalloped plate (inspired!), tiny leaves, and tiny books.

More Tin Stand Ideas
Starting with this darling Night Witch altered tin by Kristin Batsel!
Kristin used a Medium Wooden Finial as the base.
The spider web design at top and bottom are from 1 of the 3 inserts in the Altoids Tin Insert Frames – Wrought Iron.
I altered the witch image a bit: the hat was given a stripey band and a gold star, and outlined slightly with a gold Sharpie to make it stand out from the background. Then, to make the image more dimensional, I cut out the witch’s arms and the cat from a second, identical image. I attached her left arm flush at the shoulder, and used a foam glue dot to elevate the cat and her right arm. The cat’s eyes are highlighted with a little green paint and a dot of ink for pupils.

Next up is the We’re All Mad Here Altered Tin by Lora Mahaffey!
Lora used a 3 Inch Tall Candlestick Holder as the base of her tin.
Though this an Alice theme, with that black dresden around the bottom (and the overall use of black) I think this could be turned into a Halloween theme pretty easily. (Note that Lora cleverly used the lid of the tin as the base, under the candlestick holder.)
(After painting my tin black) I glued my pre-cut papers on the tin and then I glued little corks on the back of my Alice to bring her forward in the tin, and did the same for a couple of the paper roses so that they were at different depths inside the tin. The corks work out well as they are light weight and tapered and easy to work with.
Great idea about the corks! Plus they’re tall (thicker than sticky foam) so you can get Alice to pop out to the front of the tin quicker.

TWO Halloween Tins by Nichola Battilana
I love these tins by Nichola, using altered Altoids Tins (now with a lower price)! Note: I made a new collection from her supply list — and put the group on Sale plus lots of bonus items, too!
I’m not a summer sort of person, but this summer was pretty damned glorious. I know that folks everywhere were battling with the heat and weather… but man oh man it was just about perfect here. I’m going to miss the lazy afternoons I spent on the deck, lounging in the sunshine. Then, just like that, summer left and the autumn winds swept through!
While I’ll miss the summer days, I can’t help but be excited about the cool autumn air, turning leaves, bonfires, sweater weather and, of course, Halloween.

The first of our inspirations using the Haunted House & Tombstone Set is by Kristin Batsel. Believe it or not: that fun haunted house at right is the front of an altered tin! Check that smaller pic at left as proof (plus you can see the texture from Kristin’s clever use of cut-up egg cartons as cobblestones).
I love the way Kristin added rows of the Tiny Scalloped Shingles for dimension (and to separate the roof sections on one flat house shape).

New Christmas in July Artwork, Mini Displays & SALE!

Wow! I love this new Christmas in July artwork by Design Team Member Connie Littell! So bright and cheery (and filled with tons of tiny trinkets).
Here’s a bit of the text from Connie’s blog post to get this tour started:
The setting I used was a Simple Scene Box – Riser Base, which was the perfect size for this project. It was assembled using tacky glue. The walls were papered in red and white and the floor received a hardwood pattern.
I started with a Shallow 3D Fireplace. The interior of the fireplace was covered in dark brick paper which I glued in place prior to assembling it.
The exterior received a raised brick facade by applying modeling paste to a Small Brick Wall Stencil held in place with a bit of painter’s tape.
The Standing Tree Shelves is a brand new piece that gives you a great alternative to decorating a bottle brush tree. Its shelves can be staged with Christmas packages, ornaments, holiday figures, treats, whatever suits your fancy. I painted it a Wedgewood green with a brown base and topped it with one of the Flat Back Gold Star Studs. I think this shelf would also look darling in a child’s nursery setting painted a pastel color.

Starting with that new Standing Tree Shelves that Connie mentioned. See the wide photo below for some close-ups. TONS of little nooks to decorate. It stands 4-3/4″ tall. You could also put it on a small side table for a taller tree.
Oh, and that collage sheet at right? Connie enlarged one of the “Ho Ho HO!” images for her rug (in front of the fireplace)!
Moving on to the new Curio House (on top of the fireplace) AND tons of new metal miniatures (like the 3 candlesticks at right and the 2 goblets at left). Connie painted all 3 sizes of the candles and 1 of the goblets (see wide pic below). Plus she painted the new Cream & Sugar Set, rabbit, kitchen chair (with tiny cat) and Tiny Metal Flower Pot with Saucer (bright red)!
Connie made a tutorial on painting metal miniatures in her blog post!
Now back to that Curio House: A tiny little house-shaped shadowbox, cut from medium-weight chipboard. Stands approx. 2″ tall and 1/2″ deep (inside height of the bottom shelf is 3/4″ so keep that small size in mind for decorating). Plus Connie added red shingles!

New Holiday Ornaments Gift House Artwork & SALE!

There’s a new Flying Santa Attic Silhouette for the House Shaped Shadowbox with Cover and Design Team Member Rhonda Secrist made a great gift with both of them called Santa’s Coming Tonight.
Beside a miniature scene on the bottom floor (inside the house… many more pics are below), she turned the top floor into a storage area for full-size ornaments (as gifts for the recipient to put on their own tree). Clever!
Here’s a bit of the text from Rhonda’s blog post:
There are three different sizes of ornaments used in the project. Tiny Ornament Frame Sets, 25mm Ornament frame Sets, and Small Ornament Frame Sets. Those last ones are my favorite because you can use the Small Clear Plastic Round Domes and add small items that can move around inside like 5mm White Snowflakes or Polymer Clay Slices.
AND there are 2 new ornament sets that Rhonda also used (the smaller as decor downstairs and the larger as part of the full size ornaments): 1 Inch Cookie Cutter Ornaments and 3 Inch Cookie Cutter Ornaments (more into about them farther below).

Nice! The photo at right is showing the inside of the house without the cover (see the first wide photo below for the cover hinged on, AND how the front door can open to show a preview of Santa in the chimney).
Speaking of chimney, that’s the Fireplace Overmantel (that Rhonda used as a shorter fireplace than the Shallow 3D Fireplace it was made to sit on). That Santa image is from the Hanging by the Chimney with Care Collage Sheet.

New Cookie Cutter Ornaments
Aw… sweet (!) new sets of 2-layer ornaments. 1 Inch Cookie Cutter Ornaments and 3 Inch Cookie Cutter Ornaments both include a stocking, snowman, gingerbread man and Christmas tree shapes (each with a hole at top for hanging).
Rhonda used the larger ones as some of the full-size ornaments (the stocking is highlighted in the wide photo below — decorated with vintge buttons and clock parts, plus more of the 8mm Resin Christmas Cookies also used on the tree). That Santa image is from the Elves in Santa’s Workshop Collage Sheet.
The smaller set of cookie cutter ornaments are interspersed with Tiny Ornament Frame Sets on the strip above/behind the fireplace. Most of the images in all the tiny ornaments are from the Round Pendants Christmas Collage Sheet.

There’s a pic with all the gift ornaments spread out. All use papers from A Vintage Christmas 6×6 Paper Pad plus lots of ribbons & bows (and candy canes, pine fern, pine cones…).
The non-cookie cutter shapes are from the Small Ornament Frame Sets (star, round and bauble shapes). Shaker items inside the domes are 5mm White Snowflakes, Hello Christmas Polymer Clay Slice Mix, and Red & Green Peppermint Candy Polymer Clay Slices.

Tiny little seed boxes in 2 sizes! (Both are 3/8″ tall; the one with 6 square cubbies is approx. 1-1/8″ x 1-5/8″; the one with 3 rectangular cubbies is approx. 3/4″ x 1-5/8″.)
