Mushroom Toast(!?), a mixed bag of newness & Paper Flowers SALE!

Filed under Art Projects, Bella Ayers, Halloween, Mushroom House Kit

It’s soup to nuts today! A mixed bag of items arrived this week (some looong out of stock — looks like international shipping is speeding up again).

Yes, of course, this time of year there are new Halloween items. Plus some beautiful fussy brass stampings (and some miniature plants).

One big package was from Thailand, so after feasting your eyes on Bella’s cute mushroom shrine project, scroll down for a FLASH SALE involving paper flowers!

Flying the Coop by Miz Bella (Kimberly Ayers)

I love how this project using the Mushroom Niche Shrine turned out! So much color and texture. You can see a couple more photos down this page (including one in the Giveaway section showing the shrine after Bella added sides but before she decorated it, which is why I affectionately named it “mushroom toast”).

Here’s some text to get us started from Bella’s blog post (note: this is just part 1, mostly constructing the sthrine plus lots more photos):

Flying the Coop” came through working the piece, perhaps even a Fraudian slip. (My oldest moved out on her own and my middle child is off to college at UAB.) One more left to go! OK we all know I have to take to my bed each time one abandons leaves me!

I want to focus on how I made the house 3-D, since the kit comes with 2 separate mushroom shapes. Before I start, I am thinking I MUST have mentioned this in some of my past blog posts, but here it is anyways.

Never ever throw away the chipboard that backs the papers ordered from Alpha Stamps, it is great to have on hand for miniature and mixed media work.

To start: first assemble the niche and glue to mushroom. Using a piece of chipboard (hopefully from your Alpha Stamps package!) eyeball the width you’ll want your house and cut long strips. For this house the niche added a big enough gap to allow the house to stand on its own.

Yes, yes I know, actual measurements would be nice but I am the absolute worse at measurements. My measurement faux pas are quite legendary at Alpha Stamps (me, bowing this way and that way, waving to Leslie).

Ha! Yes, Bella is a bit math-challenged. But that’s ok; I’ve learned to take pictures of anything I’m trying to explain the size of!

Here’s Bella’s supply list and you can see tons more photos in her blog post. There’s also another photo in the Giveaway section below (plus a chance to win ALL of the supplies)!

What else is new today?

As I mentioned, a mixed bunch today! Psst: that 2nd row below shows some long out-of-stock items that are back again! You can view all of today’s new and back in stock items.

Mushroom Toast Giveaway!

Ha! So there’s pics of the before-and-after of the depth/sides of the mushroom (after Bella wrapped the sides with chipboard, and luckily she provides a tutorial). I hope you can see why I nicknamed the piece!

Yes, I said it! EVERYTHING in Bella’s Supply List is included in today’s Giveaway!

I’m only highlighting a couple of the THIRTEEN items in the supply list/Giveaway:
New Field Notes Ephemera Pack (all those mushrooms and butterflies pre-cut make quick work of adding embellishments!)
Clump Foliage – Fall Mix (using them like mossy bits growing the roof!)

Just click on this Supply List link for photos and links to everything in Bella’s artwork, which are also all included in the Giveaway!

Note: As there is a Mushroom Kit included in the Giveaway, any items that are part of the kit (and also listed separately in the supply list) will only be included once.

To enter the Mushroom Toast Giveaway drawing all you have to do is leave a comment BELOW on this blog post TODAY or TOMORROW (the deadline is 11:59 pm PST, FRIDAY Night, September 11, 2020).

And tell me: what will you make from this big group of items?

Don’t forget to leave your (hello!) correct email address, too, so I can contact the winner; your email address does not need to be made public. Note: I’m offering free shipping, too, but only within the USA. International shipping will still apply.

Please be patient! Spammers try to post crap here a lot so comments are moderated. So if you don’t see your post in the comments section, be patient and check back in a few hours before re-posting it, please!

Who won the Halloween Village Giveaway from the last newsletter? That would be Bonnie Bird! Congrats! Check your email for info.
