TWO Projects with 2 New Books (+ Sewing Theme on Sale!)

Mini Sewing-Themed Album by
Design Team Member Susan Killam

I’m just diving straight into the deep end: Susan has made a fabulous little book with the new Atelier 12×12 Scrapbook Paper Pad and Memory Hardware Tiny Chipboard Album! And it really is little: all the lovely lace and butterflies and trim are deceiving: that new album is just 4-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ (and the heavy chipboard pages inside are just 4″ x 4″).

Here’s an intro from Susan’s blog post:

There’s a feeling of nostalgia and comfort that comes from vintage sewing artifacts and ephemera. I’ve collected enough bits and bobs over the years to have a vintage-sewing-themed guest bedroom, including an old singer treadle machine as a side table.

I was thrilled to see the Atelier Paper Pad, a beautiful nod to seamstresses everywhere. I couldn’t wait to work with it.

Don’t get me wrong — I am NOT a seamstress. I mostly use my sewing machine on paper now, as you can see on each page of this tiny album.

Aw… I just love how this project turned out! Mixing in the vintage buttons and metal bits (like the scissors and dress form charm on the front cover) worked well for adding contrast to all the (real) lace and papers… and see the chipboard spools at left? Add some thin ribbon wound around one (like in in the far right of the photo below), add a brad to the chipboard scissors in the same set and it makes a great little embellishment.

Beside the few photos shown here, visit Susan’s blog post for lots more info & photos! And here’s a link to the full supply list.

AND there’s a big related sale (and lots more new products) AND another sewing-themed art project below, too!

A Journal For Vintage Sewing Treasures by Design Team Member Rhonda Thomas

Ah… a whole different sewing-themed book project! This time using the new Gypsy Seamstress 12×12 Scrapbook Paper Set and Art Journal Kit.

Here’s a short intro from Rhonda’s blog post:

I have really found a passion for creating journals. I have so many wonderful treasures and it is nice to display them inside of a journal that can be looked through, instead of inside a box on a shelf.

I have hoarded so many treasures over the years, protected the aged beauty, but why? You have one life, might just as well use the things you have and love. Some journals can become a new family heirloom full of heirlooms that once were.

Many of the vintage sewing items I have came from my mother and my grandmother’s collections. I think they look even more gorgeous gathered on the pages of this journal.

I love all the textures in Rhonda’s book pages (and scroll down a bit to see another photo, too… plus many more are in her blog post).

There are just 3 (big!) items from Rhonda’s supply list in today’s Giveaway:

– An Art Journal Kit
See the photo at right: a big bunch of options for making your own journal. The kit includes 2 Covers, 4 Tabbed Dividers, 2 Tab Top Page Markers, 4 chipboard pages, 4 corrugated pages and 2 binder rings. The overall size is approx 7-1/2″ tall x 5-1/2″ wide. The inner pages are approx. 7″ tall x 5″ wide.

– ALL FIVE collage sheets Rhonda used!! One with fans is used in that page spread below (and cute to use the vintage seam binding packages as extensions to the fan shape).

– One of the Gypsy Seamstress 12×12 Scrapbook Paper Sets
See the photo at left: An assortment of 6 different double-sided, 12″ x 12″ designs with a vintage sewing theme. Printed on high quality, heavy-duty cardstock; printed in the USA. Includes tape measures, old spools, needle & button cards, seam binding spools, dress patterns. And this new paper is included in the sewing sale!

To enter the Gypsy Seamstress Art Journal Kit Giveaway drawing all you have to do is leave a comment below on this blog post TODAY, TOMORROW or SATURDAY (the deadline is 11:59 pm PST, Saturday Night, June 22, 2019).

And what are you going to make?

Oooh! We have some gift certificate winners to announce from the last 2 days of the summer sale! A gift certificate for $50 was chosen at random from the orders over $25 placed on each day; here are the winners:
