Christmas Ornaments, Doily Wreath & a New Giveaway!

Filed under Art Projects, Back in Stock, Bella's Corner, Christmas, Giveaways, Laura Carson, Newsletters

Psst! Miz Bella here and I’m taking over this newsletter!

To kick off this Christmas season, Design Team Member Laura Carson has some adorable ornament ideas for you (houses and wreaths) AND a new collage sheet entitled A Child’s Christmas! Couldn’t you just create your whole holiday theme around that title?

(Hey, that new collage sheet, and ALL the Christmas Collage Sheets and Christmas Rubber Stamps are On Sale!)

The house ornaments are made from the Die-Cut Chipboard Houses with Windows over only the lids from Small Paper Mache Houses (for a shallow shadowbox… and Laura is going to use the rest of the paper mache houses in a later project).

On the inside, sides and backs of the houses, Laura used paper from the gorgeous New and On Sale! Victorian Christmas Paper Pack (which she says you will see her using more of in future projects)! I really like the house shown on the left side of the photo, with the New and On Sale! Jolees Christmas Embellishments – Jingle Bells and the children peeking through the window. So cute! (And the New and On Sale! Fun Flock – Cotton Ball White for the snow on the house on the right is a great idea… plus that candy cane roof trim from the Christmas House Trims Collage Sheet is perfect!)

The base of Laura’s wreath ornaments are made from plastic lids that have the inside cut out. Brilliantly easy! I love the wreath ornament (on the far right) that is wrapped with the Holly Berry Garland, and with a collage of images from the A Child’s Christmas Collage Sheet. Plus it has the “Good Cheer” banner is from the Holiday Phrases Collage Sheet.

Here are links to Laura’s Supply Lists for her house ornaments and wreath ornaments. To see more pictures (she made 6 ornaments) and get a walk through from Laura how she created everything, visit her blog.

Next up… is something from meeeeee! I fell madly in love with the Cigar Box Secrets line and the November 2014 – Cigar Box Sweeties Kit this month. I’ve also had the New and On Sale! Octagon Mirror Doily Die that the Evil Queen has been after me to use so I decided to use all three together, for a couple of projects.

The first project is a Doily Wreath that I call Senorita Margarita. The color palette is divine, and even though it has no holiday element to it, I am going to keep it up throughout the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.

The wreath was very easy to make: I used papers from the Cigar Box Secrets 6×6 Paper Pad, ran the die through the machine about a dozen or so times and cut out a small circle of chipboard to use for the base. Roll your doily into a cone shape, add a couple dots of hot glue and there you have it — a cone! Glue these around your cardboard base but alas! You can not leave the center of your wreath empty. I used one of the circular dies from the Tim Holtz Thinlits Mini Labels Die Set for this. After I added Gold Metallic Gimp, Half Round Dresden Borders – Red, and Wide Scalloped Dresden the base was glued down and a frame from the Vintage Brass Frames Set was added. The Resin Senorita Cameo was the final touch. Here’s my full Supply List.

The second project with the same die is so quick and easy you won’t believe it: A Deer Cone Ornament. I don’t even think I need to explain how it was made (as the cone shape is the same as the ones I used for the wreath). Just fill with tinsel and a little toy or charm and and instant ornament! Here’s my Supply List for the ornament.
