New Mini Fairy Lanterns by Nichola Battilana!

Filed under Art Projects, Fairy Garden, Featured Artwork, Giveaways, Newsletters, Nichola Battilana

Design Team Member Nichola Battilana is such a gem! Just look at those delightful lanterns! (Including pretty dragons… not a phrase I often use.)

Starting with the new Industrial Lanterns: I love these! A flat kit, laser cut from heavy chipboard, to make a little lantern with a separate lid. It just fits a tea light and has holes through the lid and 2 sides of the top so you can string them.

And note how tiny they are in the little photo with my hand (just 2-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ at the base, and 4-1/4″ tall including the lid).

Here’s some intro text from Nichola’s blog post:

They’re really cute, like small railroad lanterns, but of course I’ve filled mine with dragons and fairies 😉

Each side of the lanterns has an ‘X’ across it, but it’s easily chopped off if you want to show off a mini dragon or fairy silhouette.

Which brings me to: new chipboard sets of silhouettes, designed for using in the Industrial Lanterns (easier to punch out… and less expensive than the earlier dragons and fairies).

More info and photos of the lantern artwork (and some tips on backing the windows and hanging) are in Nichola’s blog post.

    I like the fairy idea!

  13. barb macaskill says:

My lantern would have have fairies inside with lots of trolls, gnomes and dragons trying to get inside. The trolls and dragons are trying to get inside to get the fairy dust that controls light and love. The gnomes are trying very hard to keep any harm coming to the fairies or themselves.
Unbeknownst to the other gnomes and fairies the Gnome King has fallen head over heels in love with the Fairy Queen and will give his life to save her!

  14. Jennie Ingram says:

I’d totally do either a witchy Halloween lantern, or a Fairy light, a la the Yule Ball in Harry Potter….

OOOH, I love those! It brings so many ideas to mind…I believe I would start first with making my lantern as a story base for my granddaughter..perhaps a Tooth fairy?

First, thank you for the chance to win and your creative site and team members.
Second, what to do, what to do? Love all the ideas shown and I’d do one of each – then, I’d have to do other silhouettes like maybe a Santa, witch, snowman? Poe, Einstein? Grott? Alice in Wonderland characters? I have a place picked out already, so guess I better buy some kits!

For the fairy lanterns, I’d decorate with butterflies, flowers, and a mushroom or two. For dragon lanterns, I’d decorate with miniature coins and gems, maybe paint the lantern gold–since dragons are known for loving treasure. The fairies would go into Peter Pan/fairy tale book displays, and the dragons would go into Temeraire/Pern/pirate book displays. Thank you for another opportunity!
