Design Team Member Lora Mahaffey has made a set of 3 fairy tale tins that are so richly colored and detailed… and to think they’re just made of blank tins, chipboard, paper and paint! Here’s a bit from Lora’s blog post before I point out some of my favorite bits. And note: there is another photo down in the Giveaway section.
A trio of lovely fairy tale ladies to brighten your day. Or not.
The interesting thing about these ladies is that all the images are a bit ambiguous.
Lets take the one called ‘The Fairest’. She’s beautiful, but does she really look like a nice person?
And what about ‘Poison Apple’? Is she about to bite into that apple or give it to some unsuspecting princess?
Hmmmm. The Queen has a rather pleasant face. She may not be evil. Who can tell?
There is always more than one way to tell a story. I’ll let you create your own!
It seems fitting we’re announcing new colors of Liquid Pearls today, as Lora uses Liquid Pearls all over her Fairy Tale Trio. I love how she decorated the chipboard frames, name plates, and filigree with dots and lines of Liquid Pearls. It beads up nicely and dries keeping its shape (like little round studs or half-pearls, in any size you’d like to make them). Plus, see the Giveaway below for a chance to wins lots of colors of Liquid Pearls!
Here’s some more info from Lora, about the collage sheet images in the tins:
I started out with three of the Blank Altoid Tins without the lids and used the Fairy Tale Frames Altoid Insert Set to create the outer frames around each tin. I painted the frames with pearlescent paints for richness and set them aside to apply after the background were in.
The backgrounds inside the tins are as follows:
Poison Apple is Forest Theatre Backdrops Collage Sheet
The Queen is Parrish Castles Collage Sheet
The Fairest is Grimm Covers #3 Collage Sheet
All the ladies are from the Fair Rosamund Collage Sheet
See more photos & learn more in Lora’s blog post. And be sure to come back to enter today’s Giveaway — that includes EVERYTHING in Lora’s supply list!

I think the Queen is just so sad at being considered evil that her face has taken on that look in sorrow and pain! She is distraught over the loss of Snow White whom she loves dearly!
Little do you all know, it was really the 7 Dwarfs who poisoned the apple that was given to Snow White by the Queen. They had been stalking her for years and just had to have her as their “Mama” but knew she wouldn’t come willingly so they cooked up a little poison and added it to the apple!
I would love to get the real story out to the masses so the Queen can get into counseling and get Snow White to come back home so they can heal as a family!

I haven’t used liquid pearls but you’ve really inspired me. I love the colors!
I love liquid pearls and use them often in my art journals, collages and cards. Since I use a lot of green in my artwork I’d always like more green shades.
I have never used them. But they look wonderful! I love jewel tones and precious metals. It is difficult to find something that has the appearance of gold and silver. Either way I love Laura’s tins and the collage sheets. Would love to try the liquid pearls !
I’ve never used liquid pearls, but I would love to start playing with them! I don’t know what colors there are, but a deep purple would be awesome!
I love the neutral colors set! That would be perfect for decorating some brass mini ornaments that I’m making for lighted mini metal trees that will be done in brass, copper, pink quartz, tangerine, champagne, and rose gold colors. I would make the altoid tin to go with that stuff, as they will be on a memorial shelf to my passed loved ones that I am working on.

I really want to try the Altoid tins. I use Liquid pearls highlight things on cards I make. I have a favorite one for sympathy cards. An Art Deco woman standing in a pool of water spilling water from a basin back into the pool. I put tiny drops of the pearls down the spilling water and swirling in the pool. It’s a kind of magical effect.
I think little red riding hood would be cute in an Altoid tin so I could give it as a gift to my daughters boyfriends five year old girl.
I’ve never used Liquid Pearls so I would love to win this giveaway and see what I could do with it! Something with fairies, I’m sure.
