ALL Lace is on sale at 50% off! See Thursday’s newsletter for the inspiration for this sale. Note: the sale ends MONDAY NIGHT, August 1st 2016.
NEW! 40% off Sale on ALL Game Pieces & Miscellaneous Items through TOMORROW NIGHT (also ends August 1st)! Well over 100 quirky items! (Feathered birds, Mardi Gras beads, playing cards, Christmas ornaments…)
Tiny Suitcase Kit
It all started with this tiny suitcase. Quite practical (as with most items we’ve been using for 100s of years), from a vintage vacation project to an African safari, I think it will be a useful little prop. Then… one thing led to another (big thanks to Design Team Member Shannon Cooper!) and this kit took a turn toward Victorian quack medicine.
So this little suitcase has become a salesman’s sample case (see Shannon’s fab artwork shown below). Shannon covered the suitcase in faux leather and lined it with Asian Calligraphy Scrapbook Paper (that paper is included in this kit, along with 4 other designs, all chosen as they look like leather or vintage lining fabric prints). Note: the 5 papers in the kit are 6″ x 6″. More than ample for a tiny suitcase.
Shannon also used tiny straps and hinges (turned into corners) from the Vintage Travel Tags & Hardware Collage Sheet. Then filled the suitcase with bottles and jars of products (see her supply list for all of the bottles she used, and also the teeny tiny labels from collage sheets).
The tiny trunk lock (new!) Shannon used on the suitcase would be perfect for a tiny steamer trunk, too.
But back to this kit! The kit also includes a set of Small Chipboard Apothecary Jar Shapes. So cute! They can fit in the suitcase if you wish (you could use them behind a row of 3D resin or glass bottles or just decorate them by themselves). And the classic shapes would work well for urns, candy jars, cookie jars… all kinds of things.
Plus a new collage sheet with labels for those jars: Snake Oil Labels. I used only vintage labels (none of these concoctions were created for effect), but they are quite a read. Sized to fit the large and small chipboard apothecary jar shapes (and they’ll also fit glass or resin bottles from 1″ to 2″ tall).
AND another new collage sheet: Just What the Doctor Ordered. These are great (in a creepy kinda way): adverts for quack medicines from the Victorian age. Amazing anyone survived. Note: the curtains at top left fit the height of the Bathing Machine (the Bathing Machine is not included in this kit, but it is a cool new item and used as a traveling medicine show wagon in Shannon’s artwork).
More info, photos and artwork are on the Tiny Suitcase Kit page.
Shannon Cooper’s Snake Oil Caravan
Wow! Shannon did an amazing job turning the Bathing Machine into a traveling medicine show wagon (and filling that tiny suitcase with snake oil). I’ll let her explain:
“The wagon is actually a repro of a vintage bathing machine, but I think it worked out well for a traveling snake oil salesman and his wares. It’s covered entirely with just two papers: the new Good For What Ails You Collage Sheet and the Wood Flooring Scrapbook Paper. Having the digital download enabled me to crop and copy the parts needed, like the red stripes on the side with the door.
“The suitcase is a mere 2″ x 1.5″ but holds a whole slew of items. I managed to squash in 14 bottles of various tonics, restoratives, strengtheners, liveners, and an ointment! Tucked behind the snake oils in the lid are adverts and such from various collage sheets.”
Shannon also provides a tutorial on how to add an invisible pins placed in the top and bottom of the door!
See all of the parts in the Snake Oil Caravan Supply List. Visit Shannon’s Blog for more details and photos.

Hey, who won the Summer at the Shore Giveaway? That would be Chris! Congrats! Check your email for more info.
Love the bathing machine ! I would make Halloween traveling carnival !! So adorable!
Oh my goodness! Those tiny game pieces are wonderful!! My daughter lives far away so I would make a suitcase for her filled with memories of home!
Now this is cute!!! Love it all. Would really like to make something like this.
Oh, I just love this! I’d make a gypsy ‘fortune teller’ caravan with the bathing machine and suitcase kit 🙂
Well, why not make a snake oil caravan. What could be more intriguing
I would make a gypsy wagon. The little suitcase would be open and would hold her tricks of the trade.
I would make a “changing room” for the ladies in the snake charmer’s show. I can see mirrors and boas and costumes.
The suitcase would be filled with things that “came to America” with some of my Hungarian ancestors I am currently researching.
LOVE this giveaway! I would make a Fairy Godmother’s “wares” van and suitcase, with lots of fairy supplies, wings, etc. And use the small trunk to store teeth left under children’s pillows. This is just too wonderful!
Would use to make a haunted book ( or caravan)
Love the caravan! Would make a gypsy mouse fortune teller if I won this giveaway!
I love both of these, so cute. I would have to make something with a Halloween feel because everything I do is Halloween. So I would make a gypsy caravan (fortune teller) or something like a “freak show” caravan at a Carnevil.
I would definitely make the snake oil caravan!
Absolutely amazing. I would make a suitcase for the mouse I can hear in my kitchen (the one my cat can’t apparently _can’t_ hear), perhaps packed with a tiny traveling wardrobe and a tiny bus ticket taped to the top!
This is an awesome kit!!! I would definitely make the snake oil wagon. I would cut a larger window on the side and hinge it to open into a canopy so customers could see all the various remedies stocked on the shelves.
I’d continue the story of the traveling sisters from an altered book project I made some years ago. They had wonderful adventures…
I am OBSESSED with this mini suitcase (and all mini suitcases, for that matter!!)…I would make a “Traveling Toy Salesman” suitcase filled with mini teddybears, dolls, & fantastical toys….and the Bathing Wagon would become the Traveling Toy “Museum”!! 🙂
As I love fairies so much, I would make this a fairy wagon for when they go on vacation and of course a much needed suitcase to carry all their fairy needs.
OH MY GOODNESS!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!!
Halloween is just around the corner! This is a welcome addition to the “Halloween carnival”!!
Love the little clipboard bottles! and, I highly recommend the lace to anyone who might be thinking about getting some. The black is especially stunning on my Halloween cards!
but of course! an old fashioned snake oil salesman’s caravan.
I love this to pieces and would replicate what Shannon did which a fortune teller twist. It’s brilliant!
Pick me!!!!! You guys come up with the coolest sh*t!!!!
I love this amazing kit…the bathhouse would be where I start….love love love
I LOVE this! I collect vintage suitcases so it would thrill me to no end and make me feel so lucky if I won! Maybe I’d have a gypsy caravan with a jewel-toned salon…but def as many suitcases as I could fit!
Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel! As soon as I saw this my first thought was a traveling wing repair shop for the fairies! The suitcase would hold smaller wings and wands while the “Bathing Machine” would hold a wide array of larger wings, special wing tapes and all of the specials tools needed to repair delicate wings!

Love this. May leave as is, or tailor for the haunted village or carnival – so many possibilities, might have to make two.
I love this little wagon and traveling cart- I definitely love the snake oil salesman but would have to include one of my favorite gypsy fortune teller to travel along with dr snake oil!
This has to be the best kits ever! I’d love to make that wagon into a little hideaway for a gypsy fortune teller. What fun to decorate this really eerie and spook for Halloween!
I would make something for Halloween, maybe a traveling witch’s cart.
I’d love to make an old timely hearse out of the wagon
I would love to make a little traveling circus wagon!
Have started a traveling wagon collection. Already have a gypsy wagon & a Christmas peddler wagon. A snake oil sales wagon would be great addition.
How fun! With the suitcase, I’d make a cute gift box to present a necklace as a special gift!
Travelling medicine man or just maybe, a bathing machine!!
Love the snake oil traveling caravan. I have to get the suitcase and make my own traveling apothecary case-too cute. What a GREAT project by Shannon. >^..^<
Definitely would make a haunted caravan with Halloween coming up soon. Thanks for the great giveaway.
Love this! I need to make something for October’s display at the art gallery, & this has jogged my creativity!
This is so awesome I would make a collage out of all of this thanks so much
I love this! Another great giveaway! I would love to make a gypsy caravan with magic potions. Thank you for the opportunity to win. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
I just love this. I would create a fairy gypsy fortune teller caravan!
I would make this into a Bathing Machine. I looked up the history and it would make a great conversation piece. Having nothing to do with bathing except changing from street clothes into swimwear. VERY interesting.
I believe the snake oil caravan needs a snake charmer wagon full of exotic baskets that house the snakes. I can see the wagons circling the campfire where the snakes are musically charmed out of their baskets as the dollars are charmed out of the wallets of the locals.
I would make this kit just as it is. My club is working on a carnival and I would make this as part of the side show. Love it.
It looks like Dorothy’s visit to the traveling salesman in the Wizaerd of Oz!
Love a traveling caravan!!!
Wow! your work is spectacular, I am so jealous of the little suitcase of remedies and I would have to make it like yours so I have one of my own. With the bathing kit would make a great little “Oddities circus” trailor.
Since I am in a traveling mood. I think I would it into a cruise themed scene…
Fantastic project! I am really into Halloween. I think I would make something I could add to my Halloween carnival!
I like the idea of the traveling medicine show and will make my own version with the bathing machine kit.
Snake Oil wagon would be perfect.
Love both kits! The bathing machine looks like traveling Caravan to me. Fun, fun!
Oh what fun! Definitely the snake oil wagon, but with a twist
I would make a cirus wagon. Although, both kits are great in themselves.
Hi, I just placed my first order with you. So excited to see all of my new goodies!
I would make the bathing machine into a fairy caravan and the suitcase just as it is for a traveling salesman, or wizard in disguise!
Thanks, Alexis
Remember the caravan Professor Marvel had in the Wizard of Oz? That’s what I’d want to do with the bathing machine. And of course the suitcase would hold a medal for a lion, a heart for a tin man and a diploma for a scarecrow.
Love the tiny suitcase and apothecary bottles. Would have to make a medical show of my own.
I have a miniature claw foot tub, sink and toilet with the old chain attached and I would love to set up a display inside. My So, I would display it in our bath with some of our vintage smaller bottles we have. Its very cute and it would have a good home! Thanks.
What a great give-away! The bathing machine is so cool! The very first thing I was reminded of was the movie ‘The Ghost and Mrs. Muir’, so I would absolutely make one as a reminder of that great movie! And the suitcase would go in one of my mini scenes. Awesome! Thanks for the great ideas and the great give-aways!
Love this. Would give it a steampunk look. Thanks so for the chance.
Love the bathing machine ! And snake oil theme!
I love this set! I would make a Tinker’s wagon, holding pots, bolts of cloth, “ribbons for the ladies and sweets for the lads”. Some of the bottles would be witch hazel and liver pills, while others would be perfumes and lotions from far-off places. The suitcase would probably be filled with toys in my “Little girl’s dream room”.
I love the bathing machine-I think I’d make a traveling mermaid show wagon.
This will be a replica of a real medicine cart that is parked in my garage from Buck Owens’estate. Minus the large imprint of viagra added as a funny ad to go along with snake oil and ladies undies around the windows draped in green leather. The spoked wooden wheels on the cart are 38″ tall. A definite crowd pleaser for parading when pulled by a very proud donkey. A miniature would be perfect on my desk. Just what the doctor ordered!
I would love to make a traveling Halloween show. The bathing machine would fit well with my caravans and gypsies do need something to do to make their living. It would make a wonderful Tinkers wagon too with little odds and ends and tools of the trade plus some things to sell. It would make a super book sellers wagon! I have always loved Morleys Parnassus on Wheels and would love to fill it with little books! Sigh I love this so much! That suitcase is just wonderful and I know I could fill it with so many useful items! As usual a wonderful giveaway and thanks for the chance to put my name in for it.
The suitcase would work perfect with the book I’ve been writing too! I love to pair minis with real life!
Love the mini suitcase. The snake oil salesman is a great idea. I would make a witch’s suitcase for Halloween.
I think I would use it to create the bathing machine and the suitcase to hold the swimsuits.
These kits are terrific! I could make lots of different scenes with these!
I would try my best to duplicate just as this is shown. Love this giveaway!
I love the snake oil salesman idea. I would try to duplicate the one that Shannon did.
I’m so impressed with everyone’s ideas. I think I like the idea doing a fortune teller’s wagon. But you all are tempting me with fairies, haunted caravans, tinkers and books.
A whimsical changing station you go in as a person come out in different costume
OMGoodness, I would do the same thing! This would be a perfect companion to my Gypsy Wagon!
I would make a gypsy wagon woth fortunes and snake oils to remove all that is not wanted within your fortune…
The Snake Oil Caravan is perfect! If I made this, I wouldn’t change a thing!
I love this idea!! So creative. I love doing the miniature designs you post. I have done the skeleton on the sunken ship, apothecary cabinet and the Alice in Wonderland house in the mini china cabinet. I would love to do this one also😀
