Retro Kitchen & Cooking… and drinking all day?!

Before I show off Design Team Member Kristin Batsel’s adorable Drinking All Day Recipe Book, here’s a cool new paper set that’s related to Kristin’s theme: Country Kitchen 6×6 Paper Pad. It would be perfect for creating your own version of a recipe book from the 3×4 Tabbed Book and 3×4 Pocket Set (similar to Kristin’s)… AND ’cause there’s a Kitchen & Cooking flash sale, it’s on sale, too! More info on the sale is below.

Drinking All Day Recipe Book by Kristin Batsel!

I was sooo hoping that someone would make a chunky book from the tabbed pages and pockets announced with the July Fruit Paradise kit… and Kristin does not disappoint! Look at how colorful this little book is! (And it is little: the pages without the tabs are just 3″ x 4″.)

With the big 4th of July weekend sale, it seems like ages since this kit was announced, but it was just 2 weeks ago.

Here’s a bit from Kristin’s blog post:

This month’s Alpha Stamps kit is “Fruit Paradise“. Now, I like fruit as well as the next guy, but for some strange reason, when I got the kit, which consists of fruity scrapbook paper, tabbed book pages, and binder rings, all I could think of was fruity drinks. And fruity drinks led to boozy housewives. I used part of a quote I found on the “Bitchy Words” collage sheet, “I love you like I’ve been drinking all day”, which inspired me to use the tabbed pages of the book to denote morning, noon, and night. That’s because I cut out the first phrase of that quote, and now my little book is titled “I’ve been drinking all day.” After all, you can’t drink all day if you don’t start in the morning, amIrite?

I made covers for the book out of thin cardboard, and used foam tape to bump up the cherries and the peach for a little dimension on the front cover. The ric rac gives it a bit of a vintage flair.

[Aside: the pink gingham-checked paper on the front cover plus the cherries and peaches are from the Fruit Paradise 6×6 Paper Pad.]

The pages are filled with fruity images, bitchy words, and fun housewives. I changed the grocery list on the image on the right (see first wide photo below) to be a liquor store list. You know it’s going to be a wild day when you’re looking forward to “wine o’clock” early in the morning!

A pocket page holds the recipe for a Tipsy Smoothie, both tasty and healthy (second photo below). Hey, it’s got fruit in it! The pocket page shown is designed to have two pockets: one on the front and one on the back. For my purposes, I trimmed the back pockets off before constructing and decorating.

There are lots more photos and tips over on Kristin’s blog post! Here’s a link to her supply list, too. And check below for related new items, many included in the flash sale!
