Tiny Halloween Supplies and TWO Tiny Halloween Art Projects!

Filed under Art Projects, Caroline Ouzts-Hay, Featured Artwork, Giveaways, Halloween, Kristin Batsel, Magic Potions Kit

Note: most of the links on this post no longer work, as we moved to a new Web site in 2018. However, you can see the supply list items from Kristin’s and Caroline’s projects that are still available on the new site.

Just one reminder before getting to the beautiful artwork (by 2 Design Team Members) and new goodies: The Dealer’s Choice FREE Gift Kit announced in last Thursday’s newsletter is still on offer! More info and photos.

Design Team Member Kristin Batsel is first up this week, with Tiny Halloween Friends. Kristin’s tiny little friends are BIG in personality and are beyond cute. Once you see them you are going to scream, then want to make your own set!

I don’t know why I have been so enamored of peg dolls lately, but I just have so much fun with them. A few days ago, I made this little 1-3/4″ tall witch peg doll. Isn’t she cute with that little trick or treat bucket? The brim of her hat is cut from black cardstock, and the remainder of the hat is Apoxie Sculpt Clay. I really like using Apoxie Sculpt because not only can you sculpt with it, it’s an adhesive as well, so once you get the shape you like, you just plop it on and it sticks — no glue necessary.

After I made the witch, I remembered that I had several different sizes of Bagatelle Boxes from Alpha Stamps, and looked through them to find one to hold my little witch and her pumpkin. The 2″ by 2″ box was the perfect size, with plenty of room for a flying bat in the background. I decorated it with some Halloween paper, and then added a vintage pumpkin cupcake pick, some tinsel, and half of a medallion on top. Voila! My little witch has a cozy place to hang out.

Kristin didn’t stop with the little witch, she went on to make a cat, a devil and a bat too! I think I need to get some of the Apoxie Sculpt Clay myself; Kristin made all of the extremities for the dolls out of it and I need a set for myself. It’s either that or drive over to Kristin’s and grab her set for myself (she lives really close to me) except I know that I’m the first person she would suspect!

Check out Kristin’s supply list, see more pictures in the Gallery, and then visit her blog for more details on her adorable little peg people!

Next up: Design Team Member Caroline Ouzts-Hay created Odessa Grim’s Spell Book, a little accordion book of spells that folds out from a Small Hinged Tin (included in the Magic Potions Kit).

Odessa has shelves for her healing potions (contained in an Amber Resin Potions Bottle, and in a Green Resin Perfume Bottle) and even space for her familiar, Venus (a tiny black cat). Odessa’s spell book folds out of the right side of the tin with pages and pages filled with celestial spells.

Odessa Grim’s Spell Book supply list is here and there are more pictures in the Gallery. Visit Caroline’s blog to read about Odessa’s curious tale of how she put her spell book together.
