New Junque Gypsy, Trinket Boxes (& FLASH Sale on Paper!)

Filed under Art Projects, Back in Stock, Giveaways, Newsletters, Sale, Shannon Cooper, Vintage Vagabond Kit

Note: most of the links on this post no longer work, as we moved to a new Web site in 2018. However, you can see the supply list items from Nichola’s project that are still available on the new site.

A quick intro before Design Team Coordinator Miz Bella (Kim Ayers) introduces TWO sweet (ok… one is not so sweet) projects by Design Team Members Shannon Cooper and Nichola Battilana!

NEW FLASH SALE: Spring Cleaning! I just put the ENTIRE Scrapbook Papers Section On Sale for 40% off! Except for the New Junque Gypsy Papers (yay! finally here!), everything in that big section is priced to clear some space! (Big section indeed: over 250 designs to choose from!) The sale ends Monday night, April 20th.

And don’t fret, even the New Junque Gypsy Papers are On Sale (at the 15% discount price that all scrapbook papers and paper pads are normally priced at). Pics of some papers from this line are below (with a lovely little Trinket Box by Miz Nichola)!

AND a reminder: the Half Price Sale on Spring Flowers Collage Sheets (and FREE collage sheet offer) announced in Sunday’s Newsletter ends tomorrow night (Friday, April 17th).

Continuing with the Vintage Vagabond theme, Design Team Member Shannon Cooper was influenced by her recent reading of Joseph Conrad’s “Heart of Darkness.”

As Shannon so aptly summizes, it’s a dark struggle between “good and evil, right and wrong, sane and coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs.” Shannon’s interpretation of the story includes the Steamer Trunk belonging to the loony bin character Kurtz, and the photograph representing the other character, Marlow, and his personal discovery of humanity’s darkness during his voyage down the Congo.

“I started with a 6.75 x 8.75 Configurations Box and sheets from the Serengeti 8 x 8 Paper Pad, which were torn and aged with ink, then adhered to the inside of the box. “

“After assembling the Steamer Trunk, I covered it in paper from the Serengeti 6×6 Paper Pad, and then used this really spectacular Faux Suede Paper to simulate edge slats. The same paper was used to make itty, bitty straps and I bent a wire in the shape of a buckle. (A bit larger scale, but you can save yourself a lot of trouble and just buy these Tiny Gold Buckles instead.) The trunk is battered and beaten, and holds all manners of things such as ivory tusks, a journal, letters, and… a shrunken head? You never really know what you might find!”

I love those tiny bundles of letters! (Note the photo of Shannon holding a bundle in the lower right of the large photo at right). The letters are from the Tiny Vintage Letters & Postage Collage Sheet, which is also included in the April Kit.

Ooohh, a shrunken head, too! My favorite. Don’t lose yours when you see the Heart of Darkness Trunk Supply List. Afterward, “head” on over to Shannon’s blog for more eye candy and to find out how she made that sweet little melon and discover more treasures in the trunk!

And, check below ’cause Leslie pulled a Giveaway package inspired by Shannon’s artwork! (And she included some new or back in stock goodies, too!)

Next up is a gorgeous little Trinket Box by Design Team Member Nichola Battilana! (See multiple views below.) Using the New Trinket Box Kit and papers from the New Junque Gypsy 6×6 Paper Pad (and flowers like Botanica Sugared Mini Blooms – Mocha and Velvet Hydrangeas – Cream… and don’t forget that perfectly-sized 3mm Thin Gold Stripes Paper Tape around the edge of the lid!) Nichola has made a lovely box that would be perfect for Mother’s Day (as the gift itself or a really spiffy gift box). Or a box to hide supplies on your own desk?

And all of those supplies just mentioned in that last paragraph: they are ALL On Sale! Yep, including the new items, too!

Here is Nichola’s Supply List and see her blog for more info and more photographs!

Hooray for the Bookcase of Darkness Giveaway!

Yes, this went from Heart of Darkness to House of Darkness (but it’s not got a lot of houses save that little pendant) so I landed on Bookcase of Darkness. I’m sure there’s a comedy routine in there somewhere.

Note: This Giveaway includes a Vintage Vagabond (not shown in the photo at right). That will give you all the collage sheets that Shannon used for her faux hardware and tiny envelopes.

I’ve included these goodies from Shannon’s Heart of Darkness Trunk (note: that’s a link to photos of ALL the supplies):
– Chipboard Steamer Trunk
– Resin Skull Beads
– Small Resin Skull Beads
– Set of Miniature Books
– Miniature Carving Knives
– April 2015 Kit – Vintage Vagabond

Then a few things that caught my eye:
Hinged House Pendants – Antique Copper (Back in Stock)
ATC Window Shrine Kit (New)
Bronze Hand Charms (New)
12mm Wooden Drawer Pull or Box Feet (note: these are a good size for adding feet to the shrine)

To enter the Bookcase of Darkness Giveaway drawing all you have to do is leave a comment BELOW on this blog post TODAY OR TOMORROW (the deadline is 11:59 pm PST, FRIDAY, April 17, 2015)! AND tell me what you’d make with with this mix of books, knives, skulls and Victorian hand charms. (You all had such great ideas for what to make from the Spring Getaway Giveaway!)

Don’t forget to leave your (hello! correct) email address, too, so I can contact the winner; your email address does not need to be made public. Note: I’m offering free shipping, too, but only within the USA. International shipping will still apply.

Please be patient! Spammers try to post crap here a lot so comments are moderated. So if you don’t see your post in the comments section, be patient and check back in a few hours before re-posting it, please!

After midnight, I’ll randomly pick the winner (via Random.org). So check your mailbox on Sunday morning to see who won and for the next Giveaway and Newsletter!

Hey, who won the Spring Getaway Giveaway? That would be Cocoa! Please check your email for my message about getting your mailing address.
