2 Halloween Projects + Related Laser Shapes FLASH SALE!

Filed under Art Projects, Back in Stock, Halloween, Kristin Batsel, Sale, Shannon Cooper, Twilight Kit

Wow! We are racing toward Halloween and beside 2 bright & fun Halloween projects today, there are new (and on sale) laser-cut spooky shapes too!

Haunted Duplex by Design Team Member Kristin Batsel

Wee! I just had to start with that close-up at right (how cute is that ghost?!) but scroll down just a bit to see the entire glorious duplex!

I love all those orange and black mixed-up patterns! Kristin used the papers in the Twilight 8×8 Paper Pad (those papers are also in the October Kit) plus papers from the September Kit, too.

Here’s some text from Kristin’s blog post to start a tour of her action-packed houses:

Double your fun! I took two large chipboard haunted houses and put them together to create a haunted duplex. These houses were identical, so I cut out one of the towers on the house on the left to create a different roof line. Then, I had a great time mixing and matching Halloween papers and adding spooky accessories. Chipboard gates, doors, and window frames, along with Dresden trim and flying bats, give the duplex dimension. The houses are attached at the back with a strip of washi tape.

Every year the residents of the duplex try to outdo each other in decorating. They do love Halloween! The skeletons, who live on the left, enjoy a nice banquet on the big day. Looks like their youngest has been out trick-or-treating.

Witches reside in the other half of this duplex. Most of them are probably out on their broomsticks, but someone has to stay home and watch for trick or treaters. I believe they’d rather be out riding. (That poor witch looks like she’s so bored.)

Beautiful work, Kristin!! I love, love, love the banners Kristin added (the “BOO, YOU” on the left house if from the Mini Halloween Banners Collage Sheet and the “HAPPY HALLOWEEN” on the right is cut from one of the papers in the Happy Halloween Custom 12×12 Paper Set).

Go visit Kristin’s blog post for more photos and tips! And a colorful, big supply list. Don’t forget to come back to see new Halloween products, another art project (!) and a new sale!

Kid-Friendly Monster Row Houses by Shannon Cooper!

These are so cute! Shannon and her twins obviously had an afternoon of fun decorating a set of Small Chunky Coffins like houses!

A bit of intro from Shannon’s blog post:

Here are a few not-too-scary Monster Houses that can be done in an afternoon and not take up much space. My kind of craft!

The guy at left was covered in green scrapbook paper that I dabbed some paint on, and then gave it wiggly tentacles. The teeth are actually Little Crowns (I chopped off the ends of some and used pieces of others for fangs). The doorknob is a brad with the bendy-bits cut off, and the eyes are from the Eyeballs Collage Sheet. All of the doors and windows were painted black and backed with black cardstock or part of a collage sheet image.

The center monster house was given bat wings (Victorian Bats Collage Sheet that has been colored) to match its unibrow. The shingles are rectangles of cardstock glued in a haphazard way. Both of the tombstones are laser cut wood pieces, which make them very sturdy and they take paint very well. The skull received two googly-eyes because where there could be googly-eyes, there should be googly-eyes.

Monster Houses require only a few pieces, some glue, and paint. It would be a perfect kid project for Hallowe’en!

Good work, Shannon (and daughters)! I love the painted treatment (and googly eyes) they added to the 2 wooden gravestones (both shown at right — and both on sale!) plus one had a skull from the Poison Rubber Stamp Set stamped on it (to kind of balance with the skull already etched on the other).

Go visit Shannon’s blog post for more photos! Plus here’s her supply list.
