Fear not! Even though this item is now sold out, there are still links to related items on this page. (Plus lots of eye candy from the Design Team!)
Our April kit is Vintage Voyage — but not necessarily the chic Art Deco voyage you might expect. Instead we're in the 1910-15 timeframe, the era of Edwardian fashion and the Titanic.
The kit includes 3 sheets of scrapbook paper from the Maritime Collection, 3 new collage sheets (including a sheet with miniature book covers for creating a travel album), lots of little envelopes for stashing treasures in the pages of your album, die-cut sand dollars, and a coordinating set of fibers for binding your album (perfect for adding some seashell charms or even real seashells).
I designed FOUR New! collage sheets for the theme, THREE of which are in the kit:
- Travel Album Covers Collage Sheet
Miniature book covers for creating a travel album. Scans from antique books in my collection (with a bit of retouching, rewording of titles, and resizing — those 3 portrait covers on the top row are large enough to be covers for a book of ATCs, and the larger, blue covers at bottom can accommodate all the sizes of envelopes included in this kit... more on that below.)
(And check out the adorable Mini Travel Album, below, that Design Team Member Kristin Batsel made with the larger cover from this sheet.)
- Tinted Beachwear Collage Sheet
Adorable beach fashions from the late Victorian era. Love the slippers with ribbons criss-crossed up their ankles. Tinted by Design Team Member Jeanne Draachreider.
- The Teens Collage Sheet
I love the 1910s... especially through about 1915... before the hems started creeping up (toward the end of the decade, when the Art Deco/flapper styles began).
The Vintage Voyage Kit also includes a 3 (of the 6) gorgeous scrapbook papers from the Maritime Collection:
- Maritime Boussole Scrapbook Paper
12" x 12" double-sided sheet with a collage of ephemera against anchors and compass roses on the front and a cute seahorse repeating pattern on the back.
- Maritime Sirene Scrapbook Paper
Another double-sided sheet, with maps, shells and coral on the front, and a pretty teal and golden yellow pattern on the back.
- Maritime Poisson Scrapbook Paper
A double-sided sheet with a vintage shipping manifest, fish, and other ephemera on the front (against a busy, distressed pattern) and a very useful repeating grid of fish on the back.
And those papers have such cool patterns that I photographed just the back sides; see the photo at right (and click on it or any of the photos on this page to see a larger view).
Next up are Envelopes! I thought little envelopes (glassine, kraft and a cool, new printed kraft) would be fun to add to your album pages (to house little trinkets from your voyage) so I found some tiny ones:
- 2-5/16 x 3-5/8 Inch Glassine Envelopes
Glassine is archival and is normally used for preserving photographic negatives. These have no adhesive. Horizontal flaps (and a great size for ATCs but a tiny bit short — good if you leave the flap open).
- Striped Kraft Envelopes - White
How cute are those! Little kraft envelopes printed with white diagonal stripes. 2-3/4" x 4" (perfect for ATCs). (And note: there are similar envelopes with red stripes in the blog post annnouncing this kit.)
- Kraft Coin Envelopes
Tiny little envelopes with a gummed flap. 2-1/4" x 3-1/2".
- Small Square Glassine Envelopes
2" x 2" with flaps (and see the close-up of one of Kristin's album pages using them at right).
And, the kit includes a (big!) custom set of the fibers exclusive to the kit (chosen to coordinate with the papers & collage sheet images in the kit). And, some cute die-cut cardstock sand dollars!
While I'm explaining what's in the kit, most everything in this month's kit is also available to buy separately (until sold out). See the "We Also Recommend" section, below, for links/pics of all the items in the kit that are sold separately.
If you're reading this on March 30th, scoot over to the blog and see what's in today's Giveaway that includes this kit!
Hey, there are extra goodies that would be fun trims for this kit (and more related papers from the Maritime Collection, that other new collage sheet, and a bunch of new beachy charms) so regardless of entering the Giveaway, I'd recommended checking out the blog post.
And, in honor of this kit, I've put the ENTIRE Beach Theme Section On Sale! That's a HUGE section including charms, papers, rubber stamps, (a lot of) collage sheets... catch it quick as the sale ends April 13th.
Check out the fun artwork by the Design Team on this page (or more in the Gallery). Note: more artwork will be added throughout the month.
(Here it finally is: the adorable Mini Travel Album that Design Team Member Kristin Batsel made with the larger covers from the Travel Album Covers Collage Sheet. More photos are on Kristin's blog. And here's a link to her Supply List.)
Kits are announced the first weekend of each month. However, if you sign up for a subscription, your kit will probably have already been mailed to you.
All options are postage-paid! USA only.
(That's postage to get the kit to you — not return postage if you're participating in the swap.)
$15 per month
A note on timing for subscribers: the kits don't ship till your automatic payment is made; the recurring payment date is based on the date you signed up for the subscription. If you'd like to make a 1-time "catch up" payment so that you'll be first in line to receive all future kits, contact Customer Service.
If you buy a subscription after the 15th of the month, your first kit will be for the following month (so if you subscribe on April 16th, the May kit will be your first kit).
Kits from previous months will be available for purchasing until sold out.
And remember, here's a link to everything in this month's kit that is also available to buy separately. More coordinating goodies are listed on the blog post annnouncing this kit.
