Fear not! Even though this kit is now sold out, there are still links to the individual items that were sold as a kit on this page. (Plus lots of eye candy from the Design Team!)
It's time to welcome Spring with some beautiful dresses, heady perfumes, ribbons, frippery, ornate decor, and dress forms that beckon you to the French Couture Fashion Event of the Season!
This month's kit was designed around the swap theme of 4x6" postcards — they could be an invitation to a fashion show, a mailer for the opening of a boutique, a fantasy fashion advertisement for a designer's new collection... or something else you imagine.
We've created some new collage sheets in styles from the 18th to mid-20th centuries, so you've got a wide swath of history to choose from. In addition to the new collage sheet in the kit (more on that below) there are 5 new collage sheets with a fashion theme (and most in this list include some fashion postcard artwork by the Design Team):
- Fairy Tale Costumes Collage Sheet (hint: the 4" costume size for this and the next two sheets will be perfect for the dress forms in the kit)
- More Fairy Tale Costumes - Royalty Collage Sheet
- Dress Form Couture Collage Sheet
- Fashion Words and Postage Collage Sheet
- French Fashion Plates Collage Sheet
Plus the ENTIRE Marie Antoinette, French Fashion Collage Sheets section is on sale! (now through April 22nd, which should give you ample time to gather your supplies for the swap).
I'd suggest not strictly adhering to "mail art" postcards — I'd embellish my postcards a bit more than what the USPS would accept. Note: you can use the Lightweight Chipboard Postcards as the base of your postcards, or any sturdy 4" x 6" pages you cut yourself.
But you don't need to join the swap to enjoy playing with the goodies in the kit. Speaking of things in the kit, most everything in this month's kit is also available to buy separately (until sold out). See the "We Also Recommend" section at the bottom of this page for links to all the individual components.
The April kit contains:
Three collage sheets (printed on cardstock):
- 4 Inch Paper Doll Costumes Collage Sheet (Most of these costumes are for a 4" paper doll (but a few fill-in designs are a bit smaller). This
sheet includes some of the greatest hits of 18th and 19th century
styles: panniers, empire, fontage — and a Roman costume from a Victorian
- French Labels Collage Sheet (Ooh la la labels! Add that certain je nais sais quoi to your collages, scrapbook pages or journals with these fine French
- Vintage French Ads Collage Sheet (Vintage ads with beautiful calligraphy and luscious images!)
Lyric 6x6 Paper Pad (A sweet mix of patterns including sheet music, roses, clocks, measuring tapes, bees & butterflies in a peach, cream & black palette. Each kit contains 8 sheets from this pad... there are 16 different papers in the pad so you'll get a selection with a range of all the colors and prints in the pad. See the photos of the kit on this page for an idea of the selections. And you can buy the full pad if you fall in love with the prints.)
Three Die-Cut Chipboard Mirror Frames (Lightweight die-cut chipboard with an ornate shape (a bit Art Deco-inspired) at the top. Approx. 2-3/4" wide x 4" tall.)
Three Die-Cut Chipboard Dress Forms (Cute dress form shape; approx. 4" tall.)
A gorgeous Ribbon and Fibers Set with 8 different ribbons in the peach, cream and black palette of the kit (exclusive to this kit, though a few of the ribbons available separately are linked below)
All options are postage-paid! USA only.
(That's postage to get the kit to you — not return postage if you're participating in the swap.)
$15 per month
Kits are announced the first weekend of each month. However, if you sign up for a subscription, your kit will have already been mailed to you (generally by the 20th of the previous month).
If you buy a subscription after the 15th of the month, your first kit will be for the following month (so if you subscribe on April 16th, the May kit will be your first kit).
Kits from previous months will be available for purchasing until sold out.
If you are participating in the monthly swap, artwork will be due by the last day of the month (so April 30th for the April swap). Note: You do not have to buy the monthly kit to participate in that month's swap (however, the collage sheets & chipboard pieces are sold at a discount if purchased in the kit). The French Couture 4x6 Swap will require using the Die-Cut Chipboard Dress Forms on each postcard, but any fashion or paper doll collage sheet (or rubber stamp) image is fair game (not just the 3 new collage sheets included in the kit).
