Under the Sea Artwork x2, New Altoids Inserts, New Vellum Papers!

Filed under Altered Tins, Art Projects, Rhonda Secrist Thomas, Seashore Kit

Like a cool breeze on a hot day: Design Team Member Rhonda Thomas has created 2 wonderful “under the sea” themed projects for today! And one of them used the new Under the Sea Insert Set (shown at right) both inserted in her tin and as covers (see the wide photo below).

Rhonda used lots of little trims (images from scrapbook paper, collage sheets, and charms) all from the Seashore Kit in her tin… and read on as today’s sale is on ALL Beach & Mermaid Collage Sheets AND Beachy Scrapbook Papers — and I include the Seashore Kit (and the only other beachy kit still in stock) in the sale, too!

Wow! Look at those Under the Sea Resin Dioramas that Rhonda made! Yes, I am jumping around a bit, but both of these lovely sea-themed projects use parts of the Seashore Kit and they are so different from each other! (Good job, Rhonda!)

Here’s a short intro from Rhonda’s blog post (and be sure to visit it as Rhonda shows lots of photos explaining how she got the items and images to float in her resin cubes):

My oldest became obsessed with making things from resin during the past few months, so I decided one day to give it a go. I’ve only done a couple of things, it is still a new learning experience for me, but I am really proud of myself for figuring this project out.

This project was also my first go at doing packing tape transfers. I found a really good tutorial video and was amazed at just how easy the process was. I actually used the jellyfish design from the Vintage Artistry Shore 6×6 Paper Pad and the seahorse from the Aqua Mermaids & Ladies By The Sea Collage Sheet. (Psst: both of those items are in today’s sale!)

After making my transfers, I cut the images out and placed them in a thin puddle of resin. I did this to test out what would happen with the colors of my images and to also make them a bit heavier so they would not float as much when placed in resin.

I also placed some resin onto this Sea Scape Layered Corner, that I trimmed to fit within the resin cube. Some Iridescent Water Bubble Microbead Mix was placed onto this as well with dots of liquid glue, and allowed to dry before the resin was applied.

Quickly mentioning the beautiful Mermaid Tin: I love how Rhonda mixed images from the chipboard Henna Doodles with the Art Nouveau beach babes — and added tiny brass charms and bling to the seaweed flourishes.

Go visit Rhonda’s blog post for more photos and tips! Plus here’s BOTH supply lists: Under the Sea Resin Dioramas and Mermaid Tin. And don’t forget to come back to see more new goodies and the new sale!

New Vellum Papers!

Wow (again)! From beach to Halloween icons! (With some classic sheet music and calligraphy textures, too.)

I love the vellum papers! A hard finish so will take color washes or alcohol inks well. Or use “as is” and let the images or textures on underlying items show through. And I bet they would work well in a project with resin, too, as they’re already translucent.
