Tiny Tins by Kristin Batsel, Enamel Charms, New Sale & Giveaway!

Filed under Altered Tins, Art Projects, Fairy Garden, Giveaways, Kristin Batsel, Lucky Star Kit

I’m going to jump into the new items first (then move to today’s TINY artwork — cuz that artwork leads directly into today’s new sale — and Giveaway)!

Oh my… these enamel charms are so cute (and well made)! Big enough to be pendants (and begging to be a gift for a cat-lover in your life). And we got the very popular Enameled Seashell Charm Mix back-in-stock, too. Oh and there’s one oddball here: Tiny Wooden House Shadowbox (which is small enough to be a pendant)!

Five Tiny Tins: Fairies, Mary, and Alice by Design Team Member Kristin Batsel

Are these not the sweetest, TINIEST tin shrines! Kristin really out-did herself with these little wonders (and such a variety of themes)! See that photo below for how tiny these shrines are (the tins are about 1″ wide).

Here’s an intro from Kristin’s blog post to get us started:

How sweet are these little 1″ by 2″ tins? I made a couple shrines with the ones I had, and then begged Leslie to send me at least 5 more. The tins come with a sliding lid, and I still plan to try a design incorporating the lid, but for now: tiny shrines. I started out making little fairy shrines. The backs of the tins are covered in scrapbook paper. Tiny wings from a collage sheet are added to create fairies, who dance on beds of moss amongst the smallest of mushrooms, made from floral stamens.

All the fairies are attached with small pieces of foam tape to add dimension. This first fairy is friends with a lucky ladybug [see tin at right]. Her crown is made from a sequin star, cut in half and glued together points up. For link to the supplies used for this tin, click here. A full list of supplies for all the tins is at the end of this post.

Note: there are separate supply lists for each of the tins at left (left to right):
The White Rabbit
Mary
“Shine” Male Fairy
“Wish” Ballerina Fairy

Several of the tins have half-round metal toppers on them. I used a wide pair of pliers to gently bend round medallions in half. The pieces I used were very easy to bend. Just grip the medallion where you want to bend it, and push to fold. The flat side can then be glued to the top of the tin with E6000 glue.

Kristin shows how to bend one of those brass medallions on her blog post. You can read more and see more photos in Kristin’s blog post.

Plus see below — after the new sale — for a Giveaway that includes everything in Kristin’s FULL supply list (for all the tins)!

Love the idea of tiny shrines. I think I would use these tins (and supplies) to make prayer boxes or whish boxes. The starburst charm reminds me of the Moravian Star, witch would be perfect in a Czech themed vignette.

  2. Deb says:

How about an easter bunny scene?
