Santa Is Coming – Let’s Bake! by Design Team Member Susan Killam

Aw… this little candy-covered gingerbread house is good enough to eat! Of course, it’s a paper and chipboard house (ok… and polymer clay and resin cookies/cakes and tinsel and tiny white Dresden)!

Here’s some text from Susan’s blog post to get us started:

Hi crafty friends! I know it’s only November, but Santa is coming! At least, he will if you’ve been a good boy or girl. ::nodnod:: So let’s avoid the coal in our stockings, deck the halls, and start our Christmas baking!

This month’s kit is all about sharing the season’s joy and filling our loved one’s tummies. The Christmas Baking Treat Box Kit includes so much to tickle your (virtual) taste buds — from minty candy canes to chocolatey cakes — all the yums without a single calorie!

If you peek through the windows, you can see wee Santa scenes. I used Santa’s from the Tiny Christmas Windows Collage Sheet.

I love the little details Susan used, like:
– The little columns of the Polymer Clay Christmas Candy Slice Mix on the window shutters on both sides of her house
– Adding Red Stickles Glitter to all those dots on the diamond cross-hatched paper on the front of the house (there’s also a close-up below)

Sweet work, Susan!! Go visit Susan’s blog post for more photos and text! And here’s her supply list. Don’t forget to come back to see new products, a new sale, and a Giveaway!!

  34. Barbara Griggs says:

I love this vintage scrap. My grandmother had a scrap book in the victorian sense of the word, with beautiful bits of German printing and die cutting just like these. She explained to me that *this* is what “scrap” is–nothing to do with either bits of cut-off fabric like in my mother’s scrap bag, and also nothing to do with photographs. I wonder what she would think of our beautiful mixed media work nowadays! I would use these in shrines, shadow-boxes and probably cards as well.

  35. Janet Turner says:

I adore German Scraps!! My problem is I can’t part with them!

  41. Crystal Brown says:

The gingerbread house with all the cute candy looks really fun to decorate and display! The German scrapes reminds me of when I was in grade school living in Darmstat, Germany! A lot of good childhood memories were made in Germany.

  42. Deanne says:

I love using Dresden s raps in my collages cards.
