A Deconstructed Garden by Nichola Battilana (+ Garden Theme SALE!)

Filed under Back in Stock, Butterfly Garden Kit, Fairy Garden, Giveaways, Miniatures, Nichola Battilana, Sale

I adore Nichola. I just have to get that out of the way before proceeding. I don’t know what she had in mind (that didn’t happen) but what she made instead is just beautiful.

So I’m just going to let Nichola explain how her Deconstructed Butterfly Garden came to be:

If the past few weeks have taught me anything it’s that things don’t always go to plan. That sometimes, no matter how hard we battle against them, there are things beyond our control.

Life and death don’t care about deadlines. The post office and customs doesn’t care about my little packages. There are things beyond my control and sometimes you just need to find an alternate solution rather than fight and struggle.

Sometimes you have to throw your hands in the air and give in! Sometimes that is the right thing to do to preserve your sanity.

These pieces, made with beautiful papers, glorious collage sheets, and super thick chip board bases should have been a hinged bookish boxy thing-a-ma-doodle. But something went sideways and the monkey wrench flew across the room and instead of one piece, I ended up with a several smaller bits.

I’m okay with that. I mean it’s not what I set out to do, but honestly, some days I’m grateful for any beauty that comes my way. If things aren’t going to plan, and that means a deconstructed butterfly garden… so be it.

Here’s a link to Nichola’s short and sweet supply list. And a link to Nichola’s blog post to see (and read) more about the project. Check below for a chance to win the supplies (with a few extras added, too). AND don’t miss the new goodies and new sale between here and there.

A Deconstructed Butterfly Garden Giveaway!

Today’s Giveaway starts with ALL the supplies in Nichola’s project! That’s a little deceptive, as there are only 5 items in the list, but it includes one of the Butterfly Garden 6×6 Paper Pads with all the flowers (and many butterflies) Nichola cut out and made dimensional (and that mauve-y background paper, too). And it includes the Wide Letter Box Book that she used as flat boards.

The Giveaway also includes the 3 collage sheets Nichola used:
Bees Collage Sheet (also part of today’s sale!)
English Fairy Garden Collage Sheet (shown at right, and design by Nichola!)
Antique ATC Pockets & Butterflies Collage Sheet (psst: not only is that one in this month’s kit, it’s also part of today’s sale!)

Bonus! I am also including these goodies from the garden sale that you should be able to use in whatever you decide to make with the above supplies:
Bee Banners – Half Sheet (more bees!)
1 Inch Pale Pink Paper Roses
Butterfly Garden Ephemera
1 inch Wired Green Rose Leaves
See below or right for pics of those items.

Nichola’s deconstructed Butterfly Garden is absolutely breathtaking and I would LOVE to win the goodies to create my own! My 7 year old granddaughter calls all butterflies Butterfly Joseph after my neighbor’s 7 year old son, Joseph, who left us many years before we were ready to let him go. That was on May 14, 2003. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of him and smile! He was an amazing young man.
His mom, Kathy and I were just saying today that we wonder what amazing things he would be doing if he was still with us. He is loved as much today as he was when he left us!
Thank you for the chance to win this awesome giveaway! Whatever I make with this prize, if I win, will be a tribute to our amazing Butterfly Joseph! TFS!
