A Spring Hen House and a Forsaken Cemetery

Filed under Back in Stock, Els Schutte, Giveaways, Halloween, Laura Carson, Sale, Spring Farmhouse Kit

Wow! Another newsletter with a wide variety of projects! Let’s start with:

A Spring Hen House by Design Team Member Els Schutte

As this is the first project by Els, let’s start with a bit from her bio:

My name is Els Schutte and as long as I can remember I have been creative; in 2013 my husband and I moved from the Netherlands to Canada. In the Netherlands I had my own craft store, where I taught several classes each week. Here in Canada I also have a craft store where I teach scrapbooking classes, in addition to designing cards, digital layouts, mini-albums and altered items by special request.

Welcome aboard, Els!

We’re revisiting the March Spring Farmhouse Kit today with a project by new Design Team Member Els Schutte. Beside a totally cute little scene with chickens, note that Els made an accordion album, too — and a roof for the house on the left that hides the album when it’s inside!

(See my photo at left for the building on the left with the roof taken off? That album sitting in front of the house can fit inside and be hidden when the roof is on the house. Plus the bottom of the photo shows a work-in-progress of using seam binding to hinge the album pages together as an accordion book.)

Plus Els made a second, bigger house in the same style with a window cut-out sized for one of the windows from the Mini House Doors & Windows set… see the small photo at right for an optional view with a light inside!

More details I’m fond of:
– The little walkway she made for the chickens (house on the right)
– Using an unpainted Cast Metal Rooster as the weather vane
– Making a tiny, 3D windowbox for the pink flowers (house on the left)
– Overlapping distressed strips of scrapbook paper for the roof shingles

Here’s a link to all the supplies Els used.

Ooh! Do you remember the fab Forsaken Cemetery (shown at right and a wider photo below) by Design Team Member Laura Carson? This is a slightly long story, but I thought to revisit it today for 2 reasons…

First, we have a NEW (revised version) of the Stairstep Shrine Base that is made to fit the Arched Shrine Shadowbox that Laura used (see that angel statue at right… in the shrine with the wrought iron gates askew). And how often is a new & improved version cheaper? 🙂

Second, a couple items in Laura’s supply list just came back in stock:
Antique Bronze Skull Connector (used as part of the chains/closure on the front gate of the cemetery… see the close-up on the right side of the wide photo below)
Tiny Bronze Pad Locks (also used to lock that same gate)

AND not in this particular project but a bunch more Halloween-themed charms are also back in stock:
10mm Antique Gold Pumpkin Charms
Antique Bronze Owl Charms
Brass Skull & Cross Bones Charms
Pewter Dancing Skeleton Charm
Pewter Spider Charm
3D Bat Bail
Pewter Wizard Hat Charm

Which is why…

ALL Halloween Charms ON SALE – 40% off!
