Maison de la Mode – House of Fashion Boutique

Update! A newer post about Laura’s artwork is here.

Remember Design Team Member Laura Carson’s L’ Amour des Fleurs Flower Shop from a few week’s ago?

Today’s project is the eighth (!) in this series by Laura Carson to build a group of miniature Parisian shops: The Streets of Paris. There will be a bookstore & pharmacy (and we have already seen a chocolate shop, a cafe, and the flower shop just mentioned)!
More info here.

So, on to today’s project, the Boutique itself: Maison de la Mode – House of Fashion.

The new products and techniques shown today can be used on all sort of projects (whether building a boutique or not)!

I love the contrast of that bright blue window with all the ochre of the building exteriors. Plus all the lovelies on display! I also like how Laura mixed up the display windows (so the downstairs window outside the cafe is for the upstairs boutique).

Lots of the pieces Laura covered in past posts (like making shelves from slides, making & decorating purses & shoes — and of course, constructing the buildings and adding wallpaper) are all coming together in today’s project.

As you can see (below), the boutique takes up the entire second floor of the shops. Laura added interior doorways between the 3 room boxes so that the top floor can be one shop.

Note: Laura will be explaining the elevator betweeen the 2 floors in a future post (but I’m already enamored of the gold railing around the space where the elevator will be (just a bit shows on the bottom left corner of the right photo below). And (oh!) that chandelier on the photo on the left side (and another in the close-up of the exterior window below in the Giveaway) — Laura made those chandeliers with rhinestone chain… so pretty!

Laura created FOUR new collage sheets and TWO Digital Image Sets today (whew!), with lots of posters & magazines to decorate/display. And more construction-y (my new word) items like pieces to build awnings (and mini shopping bags). More on the new items is below.

See everything Laura used (inside and out) in her supply list. (Note: as Laura covered making the buildings for this project in an earlier post, those items are in a separate blog post.) Come back after enjoying her new video tutorial (and lots more info & photos) for new items, and a Giveaway drawn from Laura’s project!

New Items!

Hooray for the Maison de la Mode Giveaway!

First to explain my photo selection below: it’s the same exterior display window, but in the photo at left: it’s at night (with the chandelier turned on) and on the right side a close-up of the purses, shoes and other goodies (in daylight).

This will be an odd Giveaway, but I think someone will love it: I have THREE rectangular bay windows (the Rectangular Bay Window – Large Center Window shown in the photo, plus the 3 Column and 2 Column versions) — all 3 are taped together from my product photos. Easy enough to either take them apart and glue them together properly… or go with the tape and paper over the whole thing? Anyway, I’m giving away all 3 of them!

I’m also including these items from Laura’s supply list:
– That House of Fashion Bags & Boxes Collage Sheet shown at left (also new today: with boxes and bags for Laura’s boutique)
– A set of the Tiny Round Paper Mache Boxes
– A yard (!) of the 2.5mm Rhinestone Chain – Aurora Borealis
– And 2 things not in today’s supply list but certainly in that window: a couple sets of the Mixed Set of Doll Purses and also a couple sets of Head Over Heels Shoe Buttons. (Here’s the prior post about decorating shoes, purses & perfume bottles, in case you’d like more info.)

To enter the Maison de la Mode Giveaway drawing all you have to do is leave a comment BELOW on this blog post TODAY or TOMORROW (the deadline is 11:59 pm PST, Friday Night, August 17, 2018).

Don’t forget to leave your (hello!) correct email address, too, so I can contact the winner; your email address does not need to be made public. Note: I’m offering free shipping, too, but only within the USA. International shipping will still apply.

Please be patient! Spammers try to post crap here a lot so comments are moderated. So if you don’t see your post in the comments section, be patient and check back in a few hours before re-posting it, please!

After midnight, I’ll randomly pick the winner (via Random.org).

Hey, who won the Tristan’s Prize-Winning Album Giveaway from Sunday’s newsletter? That would be Nita Gidley! Congrats! Check your email for info.

Psst: a note for recent winners. Now don’t fret! Between the transition to the new site software (and running 2 sites concurrently) the Giveaway packages have been a bit delayed, but they are still coming!
