The Chocolate Shop, New Display Windows & Miniature Baking Sale!

Filed under Collage Sheets, Laura Carson, Miniature Baking, Miniatures, Sale, Streets of Paris, Tutorials
Update! A newer post about Laura’s artwork is here.

Remember Design Team Member Laura Carson’s Boutique Buildings from a few week’s ago? That was the fourth post of a series.

Today’s project is the fifth of many that will roll out over the next few months… all leading to building a group of miniature Parisian shops: The Streets of Paris. There will be a chocolate shop, a cafe, clothing boutique, flower shop, bookstore & pharmacy. I can’t wait to see all the details! More info here.

So, on to today’s project: The Chocolate Shop!

You might want to go back a couple posts in this series and look at Laura’s chocolates & sweets she made (that are used inside the Chocolatier).

The new products and techniques shown today can be used on all sort of projects (whether building a chocolate store or not)!

Rectangular Bay Window - Large Center WindowWow! Isn’t that stunning?! The perfect additions to the sides of the shop (and even lit up to show the tasty treats)! Lucky for you: Laura shares all in her tutorial video!

There are 3 new Rectangular Bay Windows today, all sized to fit on the 2-Story Room Box French Quarter. Laura uses two of them as display windows for her Chocolatier.

(Note: the narrower window fits the width of the window on the Storefront Room Boxes (and can also be used to add more display areas to the sides of any of the deep room boxes).)

There’s also a new Chocolate Shop Digital Set (and Collage Sheet) with items to decorate the inside and outside of a chocolate, patisserie or cake shop. And a new Chocolate Shop Bags & Boxes Collage Sheet, with a big group of chocolate shop box and bag designs (you can see a couple of the shopping bags below in the photo of the display window included in today’s Giveaway).

From her blog post:
The bay windows, which I think are the star of the shop, are made using NEW easy-to-assemble chipboard kits. I’ve used two of the three styles for the Chocolatier. The new Chocolate Shop digital image set contains a series of awnings that are sized to fit the new windows.

See everything Laura used (inside and out… I haven’t even mentioned the inside of the shop!) in her supply list. And come back after enjoying her tutorial video for new items, a new sale, new FREE gift, and a related Giveaway!

New Sale and New Mini Cake Set FREE Gift

Everything in the Baking Miniatures section is on sale! — the sale ends MONDAY night, May 21st. That includes the new Mini Egg Custard announced today and a ton of little sweets in Laura’s chocolate shop!

Over 40 items, from eggs & bowls to finished cakes & cookies! Go check out the sale!

And there’s a new FREE Gift with ALL Orders!

In honor of the Tiny Cake Plate Filigree (the filigree used as a cake plate in the Alice in an Altoids Tin Kit), I went hunting for little cakes to fit on that filigree/cake plate. See the photo at left for the ones I found (plus check that filigree page for links to all 4 of them). ALL ORDERS now through Monday, May 21st will get one of the new Mini Cake Sets FREE! That’s one filigree cake plate plus one of the cakes, randomly chosen.

Plus, if you spend $40 or more, I’ll add a second cake! (A different style so you’ll have 2 to choose from, or display them both.)

Hooray for the Chocolate Shop Window Giveaway!

Oh my… there are so many pretties in this project, I didn’t know where to start. I decided on the Rectangular Bay Window – 2 Columns (and a bunch of the items displayed inside):

Rectangular Bay Window – 2 Columns (note that Laura turned the window around, so the side with windowpanes is papered over and is now her back wall)
Chocolate Shop Collage Sheet (poster on the back wall of the window)
Chocolate Shop Bags & Boxes Collage Sheet (pink shopping bags in the window display)
Glass Microscope Slides (part of glass case in window)
Antique Gold Rope-Edged Rondelles (part of glass case in window)
Red, Ivory & Pink Patterns Scrapbook Paper Set (pink striped paper is on the back wall of the display window, but you’ll get the whole set!)
42x30mm Antique Gold Diamond Filigree (not in today’s supply list, but part of glass case in window)
Sparrows Compass Brass Link (not in today’s supply list, but part of glass case in window)
Polymer Clay Cane – Red Hearts (not in today’s supply list, but on cakes in window)

Note: you can check out the Glass Displays post for more info on how some of those Giveaway items were used to make the glass case shown inside the window.
