Laura Carson’s Haunted Village Halloween Event!

The waiting is over… it’s time for Laura Carson’s Annual Halloween Event, and this year is a Halloween Haunted Village!

Plan to spend your day shopping at the The Thrifty Witch. Then it is off to the Grizelda’s for a new quaff and on to the Retching Toad Eatery for dinner. Ring in midnight at the Happy Bat Tavern. In the morning (if you survive), on your way out of town stop at Ghoul & Sons Chemist for whatever ails you.

If you survive, indeed! You’d never survive me telling you about each and every one of Laura’s incredible creations, so I’m picking my favorite one to tell you about; Ghoul & Sons Chemist.

(And note (in the photos at left and right) that Laura has used one of the house shapes from the Haunted House Black Chipboard Set as a building facade, and has built scenes on both sides of the chipboard — for the outside and the inside of the store.)

A trusted name for 500 years and all of their best customers are underground. You can see the boys are hard at work in the lab.

“The local constable is out for a stroll and inside Mr. Ghoul is busy creating who knows what and I think he’s got a skeleton in his cabinet, maybe a secret ingredient of one of his potions.

What a choice of potions you have to choose from! Look at that amazing cabinet. I love how Laura filled it up with potion bottles, spell and potion books, the skeleton bones peeking through the bottom of the cabinet, and the ghoul ready to make you whatever you need… for a price of course! Every good ghoul has a working table that is shaped like a coffin as well, don’t you think? As well as making sure to have a fabulous poster of an Ouroboros hanging close by.

See Laura’s Ghoul & Sons Chemist supply list.

And you can read more about Laura’s projects (grab a cuppa first!) on her blog post.

Here are the supply list links for the other stores in Part 1:

  14. cg says:

Call me grouchy, but I think if random.org chooses someone who doesn’t answer your questions, then it should continue to pick until you end up on someone who does! TY for letting me have my moment. 😉

No to the swap…I didn’t plan well. But I will be trying Laura’s Ghoul and Son’s shop!! I LOVE the 2 story look and all the little bottles and fun miniatures she brought to the window. It’s such a fabulous piece!! Laura is so flipping amazing!!!

This awesome village was worth the wait! I can’t wait to ‘build’ The Thrifty Witch because it looks like just the kind of place to find lots of interesting goodies!

I was just wondering what I was going to do on this lazy day and here it is ! Laura’s Haunted Village will take me awhile to see and read everything. I’m so excited, I love the tavern and the Ghoul and Son’s Chemist but everything is fabulously wicked !

  17. Lou Anne H. says:

It’s a toss up between the Thrifty Witch’s shop and the Ghoul and Son’s chemists. They’re my favorites!

  18. Evleta Gruber says:

I love the “Thrifty Witch Shop” the detail is amazing. And the lady diner at the “The Retching Toad Eatery” with the Medusa hair is so cool. I sure am going to try on this project. Cool, Cool, Cool!!

Fantastical collection of Halloween goodness! I keep Halloween in my heart, all year long, and would LOVE LOVE LOVE to add this to my Halloween treasures. It’s all so absolutely gorgeous.

  21. Jean Beck says:

Oh my word, I love the entire village! But if I had to pick just one it would be Ghoul and Sons Chemists – I used to work in a chemistry lab myself, so I loved seeing all of the tiny ghoulish bottles of potions and ingredients for the next fiendish experiment! And the mad (undead) scientist….!!!

  22. 2amscrapper says:

I’ve committed to making Laura’s village. I will start with the tavern because I have some “brewers” in the family. Next I’ll tackle the chemist because my dad was a chemist and had a pharmacy. So very personal start to the haunted village although my family members aren’t scary!

  23. Christene says:

I would love to take part in the swap however not sure anyone will pay postage to send it to Australia. Of the Village that Laura has shown so far I’m liking Grizela’s Salon, loved that Laura explains how to make the items including the hair.

  24. Jo says:

My favorite is the Retching Toad Eatery because it’s so three dimensional – plus the name – so funny! Love the skeletons on the side! So cute and creepy!

  25. Karen Mallory says:

I love the Haunted Village!! I would make the Thrifty Witch! Looks like a great place to get anything you need! I made a lot of the carnival and this village will go along with it!!

  26. Vickie Trancho says:

Definitely participating in the swap. You know I love haunted houses!

Ghoul and Sons Chemist is right up my alley. I worked with radio-pharmaceuticals for years and they can get very spooky!

    Great tutorials!

  27. Kathleen says:

Not able to do the swap right now, but the Chemist is my favorite. Anything with little bottles and potions and bones and cauldrons and, well, just everything – is right up my (spooky) alley!

  28. Sue Young says:

My favorite is the Retching Toad Tavern…it’s not only hilarious but so very creative as well! I just finished making Laura’s fabulous( and FUN to make!) Dragon Alchemist book…loved using the eggshells for the dragon scales…who knew?!?!?Oh,yes:Laura did. She’s a creative GENIUS,people

  29. M. C. Sparks says:

Like all the shops I. The village, but my favorite is the Happy Bat Tavern. Never thought of that…now I need to make me one!

  30. barbara macaskill says:

OMG! Do you REALLY expect me to choose my one favorite part of Laura’s Halloween Haunted Village? With so many fabulous elements to it I could not begin to pick a favorite unless I can say that the ENTIRE VILLAGE is my favorite! Absolutely fantastic! I am really hoping that I am able to come up with the money to purchase all 3 parts of this awe inspiring Village!! WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW!

  31. Margaret Dolan says:

I love them all! But Ghoul and Sons stole my heart! I am partial to The Thrifty Witch too!! I am amazed once again with what can be done with chipboard and paper. I would love to make this and would have hard time taking it down after the Big Day lol! I am very tempted to join the book swap too.

  32. OMG! How can I choose? I love all Laura’s stuff but the chemist’s shop is pretty darn cool! I can’t begin to decide what to make! Off to Laura’s to watch the videos…

  33. phoebe diamond says:

Not going to participate in the swap unfortunately. I do like the skeleton die cuts though. I’d do a variation of Goldilocks and the three Bears, but with three skeletons…

  34. marykay chisum says:

Picking a favorite is like picking a favorite child! LOVE them all but the chemist shop is inspired!😃

  35. I don’t have a favorite Haunted House, because I really like them all, especially the idea of a Haunted Village. This looks like a fun giveaway.

  36. Tammy Lemon says:

I love all your kits. I would LOVE to win one once.
    Thank you

  37. Ginette P. says:

I’ll probably end up doing all of them… Laura is the most creative person.

  38. Beth Williams says:

One of these years I am going to work up the courage to do a Halloween swap here. I am always enthralled by the spooktacular magic your designers create-they are the very best.
I am torn-Grizelda’s House of Beauty tickles my funnybone, but the Retching Toad’s Eatery is incredible. The little outside table with umbrella is exquisite in every detail.

  39. Barb J says:

I just love the Chemist shop. That would be the one I would make first if I was the lucky one to win the giveaway.. and I don’t think I will join the swap. Someday I will think my work is good enough!

  40. Dennis R says:

Super fun and generous giveaway! I have to say that the Retching Toad Eatery is my favorite–looks so cozy. Would probably be better than my wife’s cooking.

  41. Lana says:

    ghouls and goblins…oh my….why chose…I want both!

  42. Linda Marie says:

I can already see the Oddity Shop I want to build!!

  43. teri steele says:

Yes! I am definitely up for this swap as well as several of Laura’s adventure pieces. I think I liked the Ghoul & Son Chemist collage sheet best but I am an addict when it comes to all the building supplies, windows and doors make my heart sing. I was relieved you were doing another swap. I felt very guilty for not wanting to participate in the first one but growing up in the south west I am not a fan of sugar skulls. lol I am really excited about all your new miniatures too.

  44. marcia says:

I so want to do something with that sideboard miniature. Guess I’m unleashing my unfilled inner child who never played with a doll house.

  45. Dena Cottrell says:

Oh I just LOVE Laura’s Halloween stuff. And I would love to join the Haunted House swap but I don’t have any extra time this month. That doesn’t mean that I don’t want to win, I would just have to work on it next month! I really like the Alchemist shop. All the detail is amazing (in all the pieces) but that one just a sticks out for me.

  46. Diana Barrett says:

Oh my goodness I love the entire village and the details are awesome this is a hard one to pick but I would have to pick The Retching Toad Eatery Love Love the menus its to die for.
and Medusa is so darn spooky
I would love to join swap but I am in the process making Laura”s Halloween Carnival and Apothecary Cabinet she did

  47. Liane Ceglar says:

LOVE all the details on this great Giveaway…..BOO !!!!!!

  48. Amy Kastan says:

I love everything Halloween, but I would have to say that the grim reaper bust caught my eye. I also really like the Old Windows collage sheet. Haunted houses are among my favorite Halloween decorations and there are very little images for the outside.

  49. Mary Helene says:

Being in the medical field I would love to make the Chemist. I won’t be doing the swap this time.

  50. Jackie Neal says:

Absolutely LOVE this giveaway!! Not sure about joining the swap but I can tell you I have been a fan of Laura’s forever and I think this seasons projects is right up there with her apothecary!! Such ghoulish fun!! So my fingers and toes are crossed!!

WOW, great giveaway! My favorite of Laura’s is the Thrifty Witch store with the added side pieces using extra windows, just brilliant! Plus I could add all kinds of creepy items for sale:) I’m thinking about entering the book swap…I have so many September projects and I’m helping my Mom move, so it’s kinda iffy.

  52. Sandy says:

Oh how could I compete with Laura’s village. I love the toad eatery. What a great giveaway.

  53. Kerstin F. says:

Brilliant!! what a cool and fantastic idea!! My favourite is the Ghoul & Sons Chemist House, amazing and very inspiring details with soo many funny ideas!! I want to try this soon :-).

  54. Susan M L says:

Wonderful creativity and execution! I would first enjoy the ambiance of the Retching Toad Eatery and then mosey over to the Happy Bat Tavern for a nightcap. I had lots of fun doing the Sugar Skull Swap, so I am going to join the Haunted House Swap. This giveaway is SUPER generous, and I hope to be lucky enough to win it!!

  55. Maryellen says:

Oh my – what a collection and wonderful idea’s. I loved all the the settings but could easily relate to the Happy Bat Tavern. I loved the sugar skulls that now decorate my entry way. I am all ready for Halloween but the houses look like way too much fun.

  56. Mary Allen says:

If I had to choose one only it would be the Ghoul & Sons chemist’s shop. I especially like both the curved window and the lighted eyes in the skull on it on the outside, and the coffin table and clock on the inside. A close second is the thrifty witch.

  57. Jennie says:

Soooo in love with the Thrifty Witch! I adore the gazing balls, and the Ouija board, and best of all the display of brooms for sale!

  58. fran says:

I LOVE them all!! What a treat to make a “Haunted House” with all the goodies from AlphaStamps!!

Delightfully ghoulish, I would need a village.

  61. Sokat says:

Wow. The eye keeps wandering. I think I have a favorite and it is ghoul and son chemist. I do love the skeleton sentry… All too cute

  62. Sylvia L. says:

All the establishments are fantastic, but Ghoul & son Chemist is my favorite for the amazing detail.
Laura’s creativity is astounding. I have other commitments, so am unable to participate in the swap.

  63. angelic says:

All of the establishments are great! It reminds me of the Harry Potter park in Universal Studios. I really liked the beauty shop, how she used the skeleton heads to hold the wigs. I wish I could join the swap, but did not plan well.

  64. Nan says:

I am in love with LAURA’S event!! So fabulous loving every minute of it!
