Little Coffin Hutch by Shannon Cooper!

Wow! Really. The new coffin shrine is fairly simple: A niche shrine, with a solid back that could also be hinged as a cover. But Shannon turned it into a piece of 1:12 scale furniture! And she has a tutorial on her blog post with all kinds of info (making the shelves, wrapping the edges of the coffin…).

So here’s a bit of text from that post as intro:

Eeek, Halloween crafting is in full swing! My entire craft area is covered in bats, skulls, spooky paper, black cats, glitter… I think all of the Halloween stuff I own is scattered across two tables (save for a teensy workspace where the cat sometimes sits).

I finished a mini project recently using Alpha Stamps new Little Niche Shrine – Coffin. Leslie knows how much I love the niche shrines, so she sent one to play around with. (it is also possible I begged for one, whatever!)

I covered the sides of the shrine and added two shelves to make a miniature hutch to use in a future project. There’s a faux drawer and spindly feet, too. A brief run-down for adding sides and shelves is down below.

The hutch is filled with a handful of retro orange and black goodies like a 1:12 Brass Picture Frame painted purply-black with a sweet witch image, re-covered Thinner Mini Books, a fun black cat bunting from the Witchy Mirror Trims Collage Sheet, and a Tiny Ceramic Vampire Bead.

Starting off on this whirlwind tour as gently as possible: the Small Baroque Cast Metal Wall Frame! I love the squirrelly details (yes, that is a technical term) and it looks great painted black. Next up: lots of stuff so this tour is getting busy… a candelabra, that brass frame already mentioned in Shannon’s intro, a white cat, a bright orange pumpkin button (from a button set on sale!), and some thistles (maybe thistles? orange flowers in a white planter) which are cleverly snipped from a flower box!

Wow. I’ve zoomed way in to see “just” the top shelf and there’s still more to see than my short highlights here.

A RIP Tombstone Polymer Clay Slice and a Tiny Ceramic Vampire Bead are over on the left side of the shelf (and also shown in pics left and right). There’s also the black cat bunting Shannon mentioned, tiny jars of beads, and a skull bead. Oh, and you can just make out the crazy ’60s font of “Trick or Treat” on the front of a tiny folding paper bag on the next shelf down!
