French Antiques Shadowbox by Guest Designer Jennifer Osmond Hatt

Oh! This is (still) so beautiful! We just got a couple things back-in-stock that Jennifer used in this fab shadowbox, and it’s high time to show it off again!

Here’s a bit of the intro text from the original blog post:

“The Wrought Iron Gates in this photo are so beautiful and I love the old world look that they have. (They are sturdy and stand up well on their own.) A perfect find for someone shopping in my Miniature Vintage Shop! Vintage architectural prints are displayed on the walls and the miniature resin planters have been painted with acrylic paint to look as though they are zinc.”

Note: the collage sheet with those architectural prints was designed by Jennifer!

You can read more of that post (including more about Jennifer) and here’s a link to the supplies still available. AND I’ve added a whole section below of some ideas for substitute items to make your own French Antiques Shop!

Oh, one more thing! I’m repeating this preview of how Jennifer made doors with faux wrought iron window inserts:

“These doors are one of my favorite things about this display. I used the Old Doors Collage Sheet to make them. I resized them to fit my needs for this display and added Mini Chipboard Wrought Iron Flourishes Set components to give the door a more realistic look.”

French Antiques Replacement Ideas

As Jennifer antiqued most every item in her project (or toned them down with a wash of grey paint), these ideas will work well even though they may look the wrong color. Beside the 6 suggestions below, here’s a couple ideas for the shadowbox itself. The 7 Inch Tall Theatre Cabinet – 5 Inch Deep would be a good pick (it’s 7″ tall x 8-1/2″ wide x 5″ deep when closed: the main section is 3-1/2″ deep) versus the old shadowbox Jennifer used was 7-5/8″ x 9-5/8″ and 4″ deep. The Open Front Room Box is another option (slightly wider than the original with the same 4″ depth as the original).

What else is new today?

New or back in stock: like the long-unavailable Clear Glass Chimney Shade shown at right!

Oh… there’s the new 1:12 scale furniture I mentioned in the headline! (All 3 items in top row below.)

The Tall Wooden Fruit Crate with Decal and Wooden Louvered Shutters – 4-5/8 Inch shown above are also back in stock today (and what started me thinking about Jennifer’s artwork!

See all the new items here.

Now don’t forget: use Promo Code: Hello-Spring when checking out for 10% off everything! Ends Saturday night!
