Welcome to Atlantis by Laura Carson! Coupon Sale on Entire Site!

Filed under Art Projects, Collage Sheets, Laura Carson, Steampunk, Summer/Beach

Before seeing Laura’s TWO projects (and new items), there’s NEW paper today that Laura used in both of her projects: Sea World Paper Pads!

A beautiful mix of steampunk and under-the-sea imagery (plus I love the teal and rust palette)!

There are TWO sizes of these pads. See both of the new Sea World Paper Pads. And since the coupon sale that started on Thursday is still in effect…

Save an EXTRA 10% off the ENTIRE SITE! That’s 10% above current sale prices! Even if the item is already marked down as a clearance item or is one of the new items below!

Use Promo Code: REALLY-AUGUST when checking out.

This is not intended like “it’s really August now”… I’m in a heat wave and surrounded by smoke from the we-never-get-thunderstorms wildfires… so think of this code like “REALLY AUGUST? NOW WHAT?”

No minimum purchase required (excludes gift certificates/cards, shipping, taxes). May not be combined with another discount code.

The coupon discount ends at midnight (PST) MONDAY NIGHT, August 24, 2020!

Framed Triptych by Laura Carson!

Wow! The first project from Laura Carson is a Framed Triptych. Laura used 3 of the Elegant Chipboard Frame (trimming a bit off the sides and bottom so they could be hinged together as a triptych).

Laura provides lots of info in her blog post about building up the layers, using images from collage sheets, the new paper pad, and chipboard elements (see the wide photo below for a preview):

The triptych is constructed using three chipboard frames. To connect them and to make them stand, I trimmed some of the scroll work from the bottom of the frames and from the sides of the frames.

I painted the frames with a copper-colored paint and then used Distressed Ink to add touches of teal.

I backed the frames with paper from the 8×8 Sea World paper pack and used images from my Mini Hardware Collage Sheet to attach the frames to each other.

Beautiful work, Laura! Lucky for us, Laura provides more steps (and lots more photos) on her blog post. Plus here’s Laura’s Framed Triptych Supply List. And… there’s another project by Laura in the Giveaway section below!

What else is new today? Collage Sheets!

Laura created FIVE new collage sheets with merpeople and sea images to coordinate with the new paper pads! Beside the 3 shown below, see all 5 collage sheets. And/or see ALL of today’s new items!

More new? Yes! Laser Cuts!

So fun! New chipboard used throughout both of Laura’s projects (plus a Small Gears Stencil not shown below). See ALL of today’s new items! And/or here’s link to all of the chipboard items from Laura’s supply lists from both projects.

Hooray for the Welcome to Atlantis Faux Book Giveaway!

Wow (again)! Laura used a faux book (shadowbox) from her stash as the structure for her Welcome to Atlantis Faux Book (see the cover at right and the inside spread below). But to start off this Giveaway, I’m substituting the Large Faux Book Box! That should give you a nice big canvas to work with!

I love all the layers and textures in this project (and the color palette)! Where to start…

From Laura’s supply list for this faux book, I’m picking out these items to include in the prize package:
Anchor, Starfish & Fishnet Medley (shown on the top of the inside-cover below)
New Sea World 8×8 Paper Pad
Flourish Sea Turtles (so cute!)
Metal Gear Mix
Wooden Gear Mix

AND: All FIVE of Laura’s new collage sheets!!

Again, check Laura’s blog post as there are lots of tips about layering, and covering the chipboard elements with textures. Plus she provides a link to download that “Welcome to Atlantis” text frame on the front cover!

I really like the concept of a view on an undersea world. I think I’d go with a few more creatures and a little less mechanical stuff. I’m more of an animal person.

The new Sea World paper collection looks awesome. As my sea-loving family is all landlocked right now due to COVID-19, I would use these beautiful papers and embellishments to make greeting cards reminding us that the sea is still there! Love the steampunk elements as well!

I like Laura’s tip about using Glossy Accents for dimension. Glossy Accents is a staple in my crafting supplies, but I’ve used it mainly as an adhesive for sequins and paper flowers. It’s time to use it in a different way now!
