Spooky Hallowe’en Candy Dish by Nichola Battilana

Here’s a bit from Nichola’s blog post:
I made the candy dish using the Tealight Haunted House Kit with Base. Only I didn’t use the base as a base, I used it upside down for something more important… candy corn (do not even try to debate me on the goodness of candy corn).
Not only is this project cute, but came together pretty quickly. Quick, easy and cute = extra awesome in my book.
I didn’t fiddle around with the house at all. I assembled it, added the window frames, applied a good coat of acrylic paint, then highlighted the frames in gold. To finish it off I added dresden trim, glass cabochon windows and wee plastic bat.
I love the gold paint on the window frames… it looks so rich (almost like gold leafing) but it’s just unevenly applied so the black underneath shows through a bit.

Psst… See the Small Metallic Christmas Bulb Garland above? Design Team Member Kristin Batsel used it in a super cute Three Kids a’Gifting Christmas project for Day Three of a “Twelve Days of Christmas” series from a few years ago (see the photo at left).
Her artwork includes cute kidlets from the Little Darlings Collage Sheet; they and a Retro Bottle Brush Tree sit atop a decorated Altoids Tin (and Kristin shows examples of cards that tin could contain:
– A gift card,
– A placeholder for your holiday dinner table, and
– A Countdown to Christmas Card (shown at right in the hands of the same little elf who’s in the back row of the grouping at left). With a little chalkboard paint that sign he’s holding could be updated every day…

Totally awesome! This would look amazing on the treats table at a Halloween party! The gold windows against the black house are eye catching and breathtakingly beautiful! So in love with this one and very excited about the 3 resin deer also!
