Beauty and the Beast & Midnight Masquerade!

Update! A newer post about Laura’s artwork is here.

I LOVE the colors in this month’s kit! (And the artwork from Design Team Members Laura Carson and Shannon Cooper… look how varied… from a fairy tale triptych to a Mardi Gras Altered Tin!)

This Beauty and the Beast Kit is lavish and romantic, featuring small patterned papers from the Midnight Masquerade line, plus a new gatefold shrine card, 3 new collage sheets and a trio of silver charms!

Let’s start with the new, exclusive Taj Mahal Folding Card! A folding card (lightweight chipboard, scored for easy folding). Approx 6″ tall x 4″ wide when the door are folded shut.

The kit includes TWELVE 6″ x 6″ sheets of scrapbook paper (quarter page cuts from all the designs in the Midnight Masquerade 12×12 Patterns & Solids Pad). See the photos below for some samples (love, love, love all the harlequin diamond patterns).

On to the colorful collage sheets!

Simply Beautiful Beauty and the Beast Collage SheetNew!
I must say: I have been hoarding these illustrations for about a decade… waiting for just the right kit to use them in. See the photo below with the close-up of the lion (beast) in a Charles II wig!

Beauty and Varied Beasts Collage SheetNew!
Such creative illustrators, with the beast appearing as a bear or a boar (and one looks like a werewolf).

Smaller Crane Beauty and the Beast Collage SheetNew!
Similar to the Walter Crane Beauty and the Beast Collage Sheet but smaller images (sized for the center panel of the Taj Mahal Folding Card but will work well for ATCs, too). Includes a couple additional images: Beauty’s father picking the rose and being confronted by the Beast, and her father returning home with the rose.

(And remember: all the collage sheets are on sale for 15% off (and the digital downloads are on sale for 40% off!), so those new collage sheets are on sale, too!)

Finally: 3 new charms! All enchanted characters from the film version of the story:
teapot
broom, and
candelabra.

Now back to the spiffy artwork featured today. First, scroll back up to the top of this page to see Laura’s Beauty & the Beast Triptych! It is beautiful on the front and back (trust me… or better yet, scoot over to her blog to see lots more photos, and to learn how she made such a dimensional piece using paper and a folded chipboard card).

And… Shannon’s Mysterious Masquerade Altered Tin! (See the wide photo above with the black masked dancer and the purple flowers.) How regal with that crown (actually just a piece of the new Chipboard Fleur Border, bent into a curve and attached to the top of an Altoid’s Tin)! See more photos (and tips) on Shannon’s blog post!

Love the Taj Mahal card! I think I would use it as Rapunzel’s castle tower and tell her story on one side and the king & queen’s side of the story on the other side. I do love the Beauty and the Beast too but granddaughter is obsessed with Rapunzel so that is why I would go that way! Have a great wee and I will see you on Thursday! Toodles!

I have been giving a lot of thought to trying my artistic hand at altered tins. Either theme would be fun. I think the Midnight Masquerade papers and masks would be great for a Mardi Gras tin. Your products are SOOOOO inspiring!!! Thanks and hugs, cat

  14. Phoebe Diamond says:

Lots of gold and jewel tone inks, inset little pearls or crystals in the small holes in the arches. After that… maybe a harem scene, just something over the top decadent and glitzy.
