Trinket Shrines and New Tim Holtz Candied Apple Red!

Filed under Art Projects, Christmas, Featured Artwork, Giveaways, Newsletters, Rhonda Secrist Thomas, Tim Holtz

Note: most of the links on this post no longer work, as we moved to a new Web site in 2018. However, you can see the supply lists for both projects on the new site: Rhonda’s Small Trinket Shelf Stand (Indoors) and Small Trinket Drawer Stand (Outdoors).

Before Miz Bella tells you about TWO sweet projects by Rhonda Thomas, there’s a new FREE gift! I was inspired by the images of toys in Rhonda’s artwork and created a new mini collage sheet.

I made miniatures of the tags from the Victorian Christmas Gift Tags Collage Sheet (a perfect little size to attach to a miniature shrine or gift box) AND added some new images of children with dolls and Christmas toys (there’s a whole row of them; you’re just seeing 2 at right).

This Mini Christmas Tags & Toys Gift Sheet is FREE for all orders, regardless of order size (now through December 16th)! If you place an all-digital order, I’ll send you the Gift Sheet as a pdf file.

Design Team Member Rhonda Secrist Thomas has created The Magic of Christmas vignettes to bring you a little holiday cheer with two new Trinket Stands (with an Indoors and Outdoors theme). Laser cut from Masonite (so nice and sturdy), these are both 7″ tall by 4″ wide by 2-3/8″ deep.

The first vignette uses the Small Trinket Shelf Stand that Rhonda has decorated with three different holiday scenes. She covered the stand with scrapbook paper and then added images from different collage sheets (that are on the supply list) on each shelf. My favorite shelf is the bottom one with the Christmas tree (that Rhonda decorated) and toys under the tree; super sweet! I am also enthralled with the tiny snow globe and all of the sparkly snow scattered on the shelves.

Small Trinket Shelf Stand (Indoors) Supply List

The second vignette uses the new Small Trinket Drawer Stand that Rhonda has turned into a winter wonderland. (The drawer stand is the same size as the shelf stand, but with open space instead of shelves.) Lots of trees set the stage for gorgeous glitter and glimmering snow!

Bet your wondering how Rhonda got the snow to look so cool, aren’t you?

I was able to create my own snow drifts with Dimensional Snow. I love the grainy consistency and when it dries, it is there for good. Before it dried, I added some Iridescent Micro Beads to add just the right amount of magic.”

I really like how Rhonda used the Metal Patinas to color the Snowflake Garland and the use of Micro Pearls on the white tree. The little deer makes the scene – aren’t you ready for the holidays now?

Worth noting: Rhonda used the drawer to create another scene within it, and it also doubles as storage when the stand is not in use.

The final new color to join Ranger’s 2015 Distress Palette: Candied Apple Red. Tim Holtz says:

Welcome the fairest of them all to the Distress Palette; available in Ink Pad, Reinker, Paint, Stain, Spray Stain, and Marker. Whether it’s the nostalgic memories of a carnival midway, or a fairytale ending in happily ever after, this vibrant red is the perfect color to complete the Distress Palette.

I would decorate the Trinket Stand as an indoor trinket hutch and drawer with a little Christmas scene on the top shelf and antique belongings from yesteryear travels.
