It looks as if Miz Laura Carson has fallen down the rabbit hole of her own mind with the Marie in Wonderland Kit! This month Laura brings you an amazing treat for your eyes, Marie in Wonderland.
“In imagining Marie in Wonderland, I envisioned the residents seeing her outrageous outfit and wanting to get in on the act; which meant, mixing the Wonderland character’s heads with Rococo style bodies and wigs.” (Doesn’t everyone imagine things like that? *snork!*)
As always, there is a lot to take in with Laura’s gorgeous artwork. First, notice that (as always) Marie has butt her way into being the center of attention, waving around her cakes from the Marie Takes Tea Collage Sheet. I see you looking at those lovely architecture pieces on the top of the large center frame (with a cupcake on top!) and on Marie’s skirt — I assure you that Laura did not make her sweet mother be the lookout while she pried them off of a priceless frame at a museum. Laura made them with a bit of Creative Paperclay, the Silicone Mold – Architectural Flourishes and painted the pieces with Liquid Pearls Rose Gold and Brass.
My favorite character in this piece is The Queen of Hearts (who is shocked as The Mad Hatter spills tea on her dress). Laura has costumed the queen in a dress and wig from the How’s My Hair Collage Sheet; and her head is from the We Are All Mad Here Collage Sheet. Instead of the little dog sitting on the rump of the dress (as in the collage sheet) she used the Cheshire Cat (in a powdered wig)! He is so cute!
Note the frames that Laura created as a backdrop for the characters. Laura used three frames from her New Elegant Frames Set Download. This set contains TWENTY(!) big, beautiful vintage frames in a wide variety of shapes and styles that are fabulous for backdrops or for use as architectural elements.
And at the top of the side frames Laura used the New Symmetrical Ornaments Mold. (And i love the bows under those side headers… and curling down the sides of the main section, framing Marie. That’s Metallic Iridescent Ribbon in peach color — and some is included in today’s Giveaway!)
