Raining Cats & Dogs, plus Poe Memento Mori

We’re taking a (tiny) break from Halloween today (ok… not much of a break as there’s another fabulous project by the Design Team using the September Poe kit!) as the whimsical Raining Cats & Dogs Collection arrived this week! (And, I predict it will figure into many Christmas projects.)
With a subtle (or not-so-subtle) green and red palette (especially with that red plaid behind the kitty cat postage, above on the right side), I think this group would make grand holiday cards. We’ve got a huge group: 3 paper pads, 12 scrapbook papers, plus 3 cling stamp sets and ephemera cards and die-cut stickers — and ALL are On Sale!. Just click on that banner to see the whole group. Ok… now I’m handing this introduction off to Miz Bella.
Next up with her Poe project is my wickedly delightful and majestically morbid partner in artistic crime, Rhonda Secrist Thomas!
The Black Chipboard Raven is all done up in her best mourning finery that includes Black Lace from the Edgar Allan Poe Kit, which also graces her adorable hat.
Mistress Raven is holding a lock of Poe’s hair in her beak as she oversees him as he lays in repose. OK it’s really Rhonda’s lock of hair but it was quite the custom for loved ones of the dearly departed to cut locks of hair as mementos. Also to pose for photographs with loved ones who had died, especially children as it may have been the only photo ever taken to remember them by. Yes I know, some of you are quite creeped out but it is the way that things simply were.
There also used to be coffins that had glass for viewing and Rhonda created her “glass” for Poe’s coffin with a Clear Window Insert. Add some Black Sweeper Fringe and some Thin Fleur Dresden Borders – Black around the glass and you have a beautiful frame for viewing.
Although children in some mourning photos (like in the (warning to the squeamish) Sleeping Beauties Collage Sheet) had their eyes painted onto their closed eyelids, Rhonda painted Poe’s eyes shut in the image behind her viewing window.

These are all great things! I’d love to be entered to win. I recently purchased a few items from Alpha Stamps, one of which was the Poe portraits collage sheet. I used one on my first altered Altoid tin. I just love the way it turned out! I also used some of the Halloween papers that were included with my order.
