New 1:12 Scale Apothecary Cabinet & Collage Sheet, New Oil Lamp Parts

Filed under Beads, Betsy Skagen, Collage Sheets, Miniatures, Rhonda Secrist Thomas, Tristan Robin Blakeman

Oh my… The new 1:12 Scale Apothecary Cabinet has been bubbling away on the back burner for ages and has finally finished cooking!

Based on 2 existing larger cabinets (more info on artwork using those is farther below) but sized for 1:12 scale bottles. Inspired by vintage traveling salesmen’s sample cases.

Note there are no working drawers inside but see the matching new 1:12 Apothecary Cabinet Collage Sheet with multiple images to cover the outside including faux drawers.

The 2 doors each have 2 shelves (paper-hinge or use tiny metal hinges to attach). Bonus: Click here to see all the extra props shown in the photos (and all those goodies are also included in today’s sale):

metal corners like shown at left (yes, the collage sheet does include faux corners but you might like at add 3D ones)
a gaggle of resin bottles (and a tiny candle lamp shown in the bottom of the photo at right)
glass beads & tiny black “stoppers” used as another bottle
Mini books (and the collage sheet with the book cover and all the labels shown on the bottles)

Read on for lots of ideas for Apothecary Cabinet Artwork… plus a FREE gift with a Halloween theme. All the supply list items are just a portion of what’s in today’s sale collection! Don’t forget the sale COUPON below for an extra 20% off everything in the sale collection.

New Mini Apothecary Cabinet SALE & Larger Apothecary Cabinet Artwork!

I looked through a few projects using the 2 larger versions of the Apothecary Cabinet. I landed on these 3 to show a variety of styles. Starting with Rhonda Thomas’s Don’t Go Near the Apothecary, using the Apothecary Cabinet for Smaller Bottles to great effect — just check out all of the bottles and spooky supplies!

Rhonda’s post includes lots of photos (including a drool-worthy photo of a corner of her studio) and tips on laying out all the pieces of the cabinet. Note: use my links here for the supply list as the site moved since Rhonda posted that artwork.

NEXT UP: Betsy Skagen’s Miniature Merlin’s Room!

Betsy made a whole room for Merlin! She used the Apothecary Cabinet for Larger Bottles, filled with potions and books. Note that the 2 Flask Stands she used (and that fit in the shelves of that cabinet) are both back in stock.

Be sure to check out her blog post, for a tutorial on how she made that textured stone wall, distressing a mirror, and getting those burn marks on the wallpaper — Merlin must have been practicing magic).

Bonus: that Gothic Dresser shown at left (and in the bottom left corner of the wide photo below)!

See everything Betsy used to create her Miniature Merlin’s Room in her Supply List.

Third & Final Art Project: I thought a girly, perfume-bottle-filled project would be both a good contrast (and another idea for all those new beads)!

Marie Antoinette’s Traveling Toilette Steamer Trunk by Tristan Robin Blakeman!

“During the 18th century — the time of excessive, over-the-top, luxurious and extravagant styles and fashions, Marie Antoinette needed a full armoire-sized traveling toilette steamer trunk especially to carry her many perfumes, powders, creams, rouges and paints.”

Having just read a book about Marie Antoinette, I knew that every morning her toilette articles were handed to her in a new 2-yard piece of silk fabric which was then given to one of the ladies-in-waiting. I used various hand-dyed ribbons to create the bundles of silk fabric needed to complete the queen’s toilette each and every morning.

See everything Tristan used to create his Marie Antoinette’s Traveling Toilette Steamer Trunk in his Supply List (note that I’ve added many pink cakes & substitutes for the tea service and candelabra to the supplies). And be sure to visit Tristan’s blog for lots more info and photos.
