What a creative project! Laura made an 8×8 book (actually a bit wider including the binding on left side) with a niche cut into the pages on the right side for a 4×4 accordion book (and lucky for us all, she includes a video tutorial on her blog post). A brief intro: see the page from the new pad above (with the large oval frame)? That is the cover of the 8×8 book (see left side of the first two wide photos below) with the middle of the oval cut out to reveal the smaller book inside.

For this project, I demonstrate how to make two books, a large book that contains a mini removable book.

The inspiration for this project comes from the Sea Dream 8×8 Paper Pad and the poem “The Ocean” by Nathanial Hawthorn. You’ll find a printable version of the poem in my post. I love the paper’s design blending sea life with flowers.

I have created a new collage sheet, “Sea Dreams” for this project and used the sheet to decorate the mini-book.

To decorate the large book, I used various fern and seaweed die-cut chipboard shapes which I colored and made dimensional with the use of paint, microbeads, and embossing powders.

What a beautiful project! I can also see the “book in a book” idea used as a gift with lots of different themes. More info is in Laura’s blog post and/or see her supply list (and remember all those items are on sale — see the bottom of this post for more info).
