A Mushroom Accordion Shrine, New Miniatures & Baking Theme SALE!
Filed under Art Projects, Christmas, Halloween, Mushroom House Kit, Shannon Cooper
I love the fall holidays! So many cute (new) things today: from Halloween to Christmas themes, and lots of miniatures.
Those 3D Jack-o-Lanterns at far left are great! Painted cast resin (so a bit heavy but that means they stand up and stay put).
Plus see those fancy fluted bowls at left (with some of the Christmas Candy Slice Mix displayed in one bowl)? They are actually a set of bundt cake pans and they are part of the Baking Theme FLASH SALE! (More info below.)
A Home Fit for Several Gnomes by Design Team Member Shannon Cooper!
Oh my. This is so wonderful. Not only did Shannon turn the Mushroom Shrine into a 3D affair (she sculpted paper clay on the front so there’s a bit of depth to the mushroom cap and around the door). But she also cut a larger arched doorway and used the 4×4 Arch Tunnel Book to turn the whole “house” into an accordion book! (Not really a book, as the only “page” that opens is the front door, but there is so much depth inside… more on that below.)
Here’s some text to get us started from Shannon’s blog post:
I know it is September (aka Spooktember, when all the Halloween crafting happens) but an exception was made after receiving a Mushroom Niche Shrine with Arched Door and collage sheets filled with tiny gnomes from Alpha Stamps. I might have squealed a tiny bit.
I say this every time a new Niche Shrine is announced, and it is always true, that this one is my absolute favorite. Mushrooms, gnomes, and shrines? Yes, please!
Shall we give a knock and see who’s in? What is going on in there?! Is this the party mushroom? (Scroll down to see the wide photo; see all those gnomes inside?!)
Looks like Kerfoot is only interested in prepping potatoes for future batches of whatever’s gotten the rest of them so happy. Now, how exactly did eleventy-thousand gnomes cram into one mushroom house?
Oh-ho! The mushroom is a tunnel book! (A tiny one, but one nonetheless.) I have had an idea for a gnomish tunnel book for a while, so when the Mushroom Niche Shrine arrived it just seemed like the perfect opportunity to create it.
This is so clever! And we haven’t even discussed the tiny garden and walkway in front of the house (but lucky for us, Shannon includes lots more info and tutorial photos)!
Here’s Shannon’s supply list and you can see tons more photos and a tutorial in her blog post!
What else is new today?
