Filed under Art Projects, Back in Stock, Daniela Costa, Halloween, Nichola Battilana, Sale, Tunnel Book Kit
First, I just put ALL CLEARANCE items (over 300!) on sale at 50% off! Some were marked down today (like those shown at right)! Luckily there are tags to help sort them, see them all here.
Second, it’s the END of SUMMER! It’s a holiday weekend here in the U.S… which always seem like the beginning of serious hurricane season too, but i digress. I’ve added an EXTRA 15% off the entire site! Plus that coupon also works on items in the Clearance Sale, so move ’em out! Gotta make room for new Halloween & Christmas!
Just enter code LABORDAY when checking out (valid through TUESDAY night, September 3rd). But don’t dawdle as only valid on in-stock items (plus clearance items won’t be reordered)!
Oooo! We have 2 art projects using the 4×4 Arch Tunnel Book and they couldn’t be more different (and they’re both wonderful)!
One is impressionistic (that should be Impressionistic) and the other is Halloween-themed (actually 2 Halloween ones as Design Team Member Daniela Costa made little almost-theatres using the 4×4 and 6×6 tunnel books).
I’m going to start with the Van Gogh Tunnel Book by Design Team Member Nichola Battilana.
Isn’t that beautiful!? Beside intro text below from Nichola’s blog, I’d like to point out that turning the tunnel book into a shadowbox (of sorts) only involved wrapping the book with a 3/4″ wide strip of cardstock!
From Nichola’s blog post:
You know who I love? (Beside you, of course.) Van Gogh.
One of the most moving artistic experiences of my life was seeing “Starry Night on the Rhone” in a darkened room at the Art Gallery of Ontario. There is a tremendous ‘life’ in his work, as though they are living, breathing things.
When I saw the sunflowers in this month’s Tunnel Book Kit I thought of dear Vincent and made a little something Van Gogh-y.
Instead of a book, I’ve painted each of the pages from the 4×4 Arch Tunnel Book like a Van Gogh landscape with acrylic paint, then used foam squares to create space between the layers.
The layers are then framed with a simple strip of cardstock painted black, and covered with the blue paper from the Banner Year 6×6 Paper Pad.
Be sure to visit Nichola’s blog for more photos and info! Plus here’s her supply list.
Matilda Jane Tunnel Book by Daniela Costa!
This smaller project by Daniela is so cute! (Also using the 4×4 size tunnel book that Nichola used.) I like the combo of the roof facade on top plus the striped paper on the sides — topped with round pumpkin or cat pics that makes the sides look like columns — the whole piece looks like a theatre.
Plus the colors on the 2 projects kinda work together… Halloween and Van Gogh… maybe it’s the sunny sunflowers picking up the pumpkin colors.
From Daniela’s blog post:
I’ve used the 4×4 Arch Tunnel Book for “Matilda Jane”. She is a twirling Ballerina! I had such a great time playing with all the fun items. For the Tunnel Book itself, I grabbed my Halloween paint colors in my stash, and used a different one on each layer. For the top layer, I’ve used the print meant for the back of a 4×4, from the Circle Tunnel Parts Collage Sheet. Its a darling stripe paper. If you didn’t notice, I used a Bat Border ATC Card, which I painted a pretty purple. Don’t you love the depth the tunnel book gives? To get this, I’ve used pop foam in between each of the layers of chipboard for the Tunnel Book.
Be sure to visit Daniela’s blog for more fun photos (and another tunnel book in 6×6 size) and don’t forget her supply list to find all those Halloween supplies!
