An Alice in Wonderland Sleigh?!

Design Team Member Laura Carson presents a Holiday Sleigh with Alice In Wonderland Twist!
Oh no, it looks like Hatter has stolen the Queen’s sleigh and she doesn’t look happy about it. Of course, she’s never happy about anything. Isn’t it a beautiful sleigh all decked out for the holidays pulled by 4 flamingo reindeer. Flamingo reindeer make more sense to me because at least flamingos fly! (See below for the reindeer.. and the Queen standing on a staircase cleverly made from mini playing cards inserted in the the pages of a book.)
Isn’t the table set up just to die for? The table is complete with a sweet cake (made from buttons!) and other tasty treats. Laura used a bit of her own lace to cover the table with, but we have some new super adorable Dollhouse Doilies and Shelf Edging (in a much smaller scale) that would be lovely under some dollhouse-sized plates. You know what else is fabulous? The crooked candlesticks and the teapot that is pouring itself!
“One of the main pieces on the table is the pair of crooked candlestick holders. I started with the bead cap and glued the first bead on at a slight angle. This is definitely a job for E6000 glue. Once the glue was dry, I added the next bead and so on until finally adding the filigree to the top. It’s really important to let the glue dry thoroughly between each piece before adding another piece.
“Lastly, I glued the teapot at an angle on one of the candlestick holders and a candle on the other. As you can see, I glued together a stack of plates and cups in a staggered fashion, again using E6000. I painted the cups and saucers bright colors using Patina Paints, or you could use the cute new Floral Tea Set if you didn’t want to paint.”
[Note: you could also buy a large set of plastic cups and saucers to paint in wild colors.]
So how is the tea pouring out of the pot? I cannot tell you (but Laura will in her tutorial) except that it is through the magic of Glossy Accents!
To help you make your on Christmas Sleigh with Alice in Wonderland Twist, Laura has created the Tea Party Alice Collage Sheet as well as a Tea Party Alice Digital Download Set. For Laura’s amazing tutorial and for more pictures, visit Artfully Musing.

Hey, who won the Christmas Trinket Stand Giveaway? That would be Karen Mallory!
And she replied to my query “How would you decorate your Trinket Stand? Do you like the shelves or open one better (though this Giveaway includes the one with shelves)? What would you put in the drawer?”
I love the shelf one! I am thinking maybe a mini women’s accessories display for a store with mini hats and purses! In the drawer I would put mini knitted scarves!
I would use bunnies or squirrels to pull my sleigh!!! What else would Fairies want to pull their sleigh? LOL
Just wanted to let you know that I am almost done decorating my Tea Cottage that I won and will be sharing photos soon!!! THANK YOU AGAIN!! TFS!
The pink flamingos are great! but I would use owls, keep the antlers and add wings 🙂
Door mice! Although I suppose they’d keep falling asleep, so they might not be best suited to pull the sleigh.
I think storks would be neat and have the sleigh filled with little babies.
Wow I am just blown away by Laura’s creativity! My sister is a huge Alice fan and I have made her Alice pieces before…but nothing this fantastic! I would love to make something similar, maybe having the Red Queen at the helm and her minions pulling the sleigh…
I would definitely use pink flamingos: they are the unofficial bird of Baltimore, the home of John Waters!
Chess pieces, Knights at the lead and pawns behind.
This is so fun! Those flamingos really threw me for a minute! I would love to try something but not sure about the flamingos!!
I would use the Queen of Hearts to pull the sleigh because after all she had the strength
Wow, another masterpiece from Laura! This sleigh is so creative and different. Just love it!!!! Thanks for the chance to win.
The flamingos can’t be outdone. Laura’s creative muse blows me away.
I agree with Margery… the flamingos are not to be denied. Differnt than I might see them but nevertheless they can’t be beat!
Love the idea of Alice in Wonderland sleigh. I would use cats to pull the sleigh.
Like the flamingos but tweedle dee and tweedle dum would probably be more my style..
Flamingo reindeer?! What will the clever and diabolical-but-only-for-good Laura think of next?! This entire homage to Alice in Wonderland via Winter Wonderland is an absolute delight! How I wished my mind worked as hers does!…and that I was blessed with the patience to make it all come to fruition so fantastically!
I would definitely use flamingos to pull the sleigh, but add pink feathers for wings (I mean, why not?).
I’d use Great Danes to pull this sleigh, ones that looked like my Alfie, of course!
How wonderful… Flamingos as reindeer and the mad hatter for Santa
Those Flamingos just tug at my heart, so they would be honored to pull the sleigh.
Love the flamingo reindeer!!!
How fabulous,Laura!!! I would love to make one with flamingos as well… Better to use them as reindeer than croquet mallets!
I would stick with the reindeer, cuz that’s what Santa uses on his sleigh. I can’t believe it’s December, and Christmas is right around the corner! It would be so nice to finally win an Alpha Stamps giveaway after all these years 🙂 Happy Holidays to all!!
I really really wish I could take a walk thru your imagination when it is working up an idea! WOW.
I would not change a thing. The longer I keep looking the more I see. It’s like a find the item picture puzzle, so much fun.
Love Alice in Wonderland-great project by Laura. The tiny tea set is so cute.>^..^<
I would not flamingos pulling my sleigh. I don’t think they are used to the cold weather necessary for a sleigh, but they are perfect for a mad Wonderland. Because it’s a sleigh and there are a lot of hearts in Alice, this would be part of an Alice in Wonderland display in February.
Thank you for another opportunity!
This is so creative! The mad hatter would have to be Santa & his elf the Cheshire Cat! Flamingo reindeers would be perfect! Thanks kat
Laura strikes again! Love this Alice sleigh. I think the flying flamingo reindeer are perfect! Very Alice!!
Oh how I would love to win this one!!! What a brilliant idea! I like all the other critters mentioned, but I think the flamingos have it!
I have always wanted a sleigh for a centerpiece. I am not crazy about flamingos tho. I will stick with the traditional reindeer.
I really love all things Alice. Flamingo reindeer, hedgehog elves. Thanks for all the great ideas!
I,too, like the Flamingo but I think the White Rabbit would be fun as well. He could be the lead with his “I’m late, I’m late” watch and the Cheshire Cat beside him with her/his sign pole giving directions.
Absolutely! Flamingo reindeer would be great, especially to send on Xmas cards for Florida family and friends. Thanks for the Christmas giveaway.
this is the perfect Alice sleigh! Should’ve known it’d be Laura’s work, she is amazing!
LOVE IT LAURA! I’d take Laura’s We’re all mad here collage sheet and morph the queen’s head onto the reindeer…the bodies of the reindeer I would paper 2 with hearts, 2 with spades. Love Alice!
I like pink flamingos but I also agree that I like the doormice.
I think the flamingos are perfection! They’re part of the Alice story so it’s quite fitting. This piece has brilliant thematic unity. Laura’s imagination is one for the ages!
Yes, definitely for the flamingos! I would give them green harnesses with jingle bells.
I love these items I would make a diorama with them
Flamingos reindeer!! Truly inspired! I love it!!
I am absolutely in love with the flamingos. I have a sister that collects them. What a great addition to that collection. How much fun!
What’s an Alice theme without fabulous flamingos? I might add a red nose to a lead one.
Cats?? Or maybe rabbits???
I am from Florida so flamingo eindeer is the perfect way to go and I love Alice in Wonderland!
As a huge Alice in Wonderland fan and collector it was interesting to see something fabulous and related to a different holiday than Easter (All those rabbits, you know). I’d like to thank for teaching me the word “chimeric”. But I must admit, I’d rather wee something pulling the sleigh that would look cute with a red nose… perhaps a dormouse or, dare I say it, rabbit head on the reindeer body?
So fun! Love Alice in Wonderland and the pink flamingos add some punch to Christmas 🙂
Living in a warmer climate with no real cold weather or snow, I love the idea of using the flamingos to pull the sleigh!
I LOVE the pink flamingoes pulling the sleigh. They are perfect!
Huge fan of Alice in Wonderland. I love the idea of pink flamingos. I would use hedgehog’s.
Yes I would use the pink flamingos, This is outstanding, by far one of the most creative ideas.
Love Alice and love the flamingoes pulling the sleigh. Terrific.
I love the idea of flamingos reindeer! And I love this giveaway! Thank you for the opportunity to win!
My daughter and I love Alice In Wonderland. Your sleigh is so adorable. The flamingos are perfect.
The flamingos look great, but I might try seahorses.
Penguins would be great for pulling the sleigh I think. They would really look good with reindeer antlers too.
Oh my! Pink flamingos pulling a sleigh! I love it and of course I would do it! Very fun.
I think pink flamingos would be wonderful, but before I start on the sleigh, I must make 20 cheshire cats for my miniature group’s Alice in Wonderland project for January. I already have all my downloads ready to go. Digital is perfect for me as we all work in quarter 1:48th scale. Love your site
Definitely the flamingos. They are so Alice in Wonderland. Amazing work Laura!
Wow…Yes, Flamingo reindeer and maybe some rabbit ones too! I’d definitely get into making this not your ‘oh so typical’ sleigh and reindeer! Lots of fun in this kit! Love it and Thanks for the chance! 🙂
Flamingo reindeer are just perfect! What a great scene!
I am from Florida, definitely Flamingos as reindeer!
Love anything Alice, and the Flamingo Reindeer are absolutely perfect!
Elephant’s heads would be very funny too
Fun Alice project! Yes, love the flamingos!
I would have to have a Gryphon and a Mock Turtle pulling my sleigh! Though I would have to have a flamingo or two also. I love this so much!I love Alice 🙂
Oh I think for sure I would have the white rabbits with the red hearts pulling the sleigh!
I think I’d give flying hedgehogs a try as sleigh-pullers.
