New Metal Hardware & Safari Artwork by Katie Zoey Ho!

Filed under Art Projects, Giveaways, Katie Zoey Ho, Newsletters, Tutorials, Vintage Vagabond Kit

Note: most of the links on this post no longer work, as we moved to a new Web site in 2018. However, you can see the supply list items from Katie’s project that are still available on the new site.

A quick reminder before getting to the new artwork and goodies…
the Half Price Sale on Fairies Collage Sheets (and FREE collage sheet offer) announced in Sunday’s Newsletter ends tomorrow night (Friday, May 1st). Now I’m handing this off to Design Team Coordinator Miz Bella (Kim Ayers).

My most adorable, freaky little Design Team Member Katie Zoey Ho will be talking about her project (see a nice big photo, below) from the Vintage Vagabond Kit.

Besides being a coffee freak, I’m equally a freak in imagining doing certain things in unusual places such as shopping for my favourite trunk in a Safari park… Presenting here my ideal Safari Trunk Boutique diorama which is on this week’s Alpha Stamps newsletter project highlight using this month’s kit.

I used a bazillion of Alpha Stamps supplies plus those greens and other supplies I’ve been keeping for God knows what the hell I’m hoarding for, I transformed a small wooden box into a wooden chest using (New!) Tim Holtz Stencil – Woodgrain (and Molding Paste) and painted it over with various shades of brown. Added a layer of bushes and dumped some branches, and fern garlands at the top. To finish off, I added on Metal Claw Feet and Lion Door Knockers. Oooo how cool is that!!! I love these new Graphic 45 staples!!! They simply match this theme so well. Don’t you feel Safa-rish-ing?”

I like how all of the items in the boutique are resting on a soft bed of Sheet Moss and the Violet Cherry Blossom Garland is just lazily hanging down while the giraffe nibbles on some greenery. So sweet!

How cute with the word “SAFARI” spelled out in Alphabet Baby Beads on the side (and note those 2mm and 3mm Brass Flat-Back Studs in that little photo, too). And those (New!) Metal Claw Feet and Lion Door Knockers are such a great addition to shadowbox-making supplies.

Safari Trunk Boutique supply list is here and then once you’ve looked at that – grab your gear and head on over to visit Katie’s blog for more pictures. Katie also has a tutorial on how to make the 3D giraffe using the Out of Africa Collage Sheet too!

I am a bird watcher, and love to go to my friend’s house, where she has an owl box way up high on a pole. It’s fun to see the little bones and skulls on the ground below the box, although the skulls are mostly voles’ and other small rodent-type animals; not too many bird skulls. But I do love skulls! 😉
I sure hope I can make something like this someday.
