It’s time to announce the February Kit: Cute as a Button!
Yes, yes… this an amazingly, syrupy-sweet kit! Between The Three Little Kittens, The Owl and the Pussycat, and all of those silly kitty cat buttons, it may all be too much for you. If you like the sewing/button theme but you’d like a few less kitties, check out the Add-On Kit (which has a more straight-up “vintage sewing” theme).
But for those of you who remain, you brave souls, you grown-ups who can still appreciate whimsy and beautiful illustrations from vintage children’s books: I am forging ahead! I have a large collection of children’s books. And a drawer dedicated to books about cats & kittens. I’ve made collage sheets (and rubber stamps) based on Puss in Boots in the past (though there are still some cute unused images so Puss may be making a comeback when I find the time). And I’ve also made collage sheets about The Three Little Kittens (note that link to the Mother Goose article), but I’ve never put together a kit around the theme.
But the combination of finding some new scrapbook papers with a sewing theme (including that adorable Montage Mercantile Scrapbook Paper with a collage of Victorian advertisement all retinted in a pink, turquoise and sepia palette) AND a horde of cute painted cat buttons led me to reopen that drawer.

I was a bit too heavy handed in decorating the hearts (a big shock, I know) so they didn’t hang between each block the way I imagined they would, so… what I ended up with are some sweet little decorations for your tabletop, or mantle, or perhaps some naked nooks or crannies that could use just a little extra something. I didn’t want it tooooooo Valentiney — because then I’d have to do something right away for Spring. I think these might carry over mid-way.
