Books, Boxes and Shrines FLASH Sale!

Filed under Art Projects, Cigar Box Sweeties Kit, Giveaways, Newsletters, Rhea Freitag, Rhonda Secrist Thomas, Swaps

Just a quick intro before Miz Bella (Kim Ayers) waxes poetic about artwork from TWO Design Team Members.

First: a Books, Boxes & Shrines FLASH Sale! Tons of options for items to decorate as holiday gifts. (And the sale includes some of the new shadowboxes shown below!) The sale ends TOMORROW night, Friday, November 21st!

Second: there’s a new FREE Gift Kit: Reindeer Tags! Perfect for making little tags for those gifts you’ll be making. One is also included in today’s Giveaway.

Continuing with the November 2014 – Cigar Box Sweeties Kit and Add-On Kit are offerings from Design Team Members Rhonda Secrist Thomas and Rhea Freitag.

Using two of the Tiny Cigar Boxes, Rhonda created a masculine and a feminine cigar box; each filled with cigar-themed ATCs. I am obsessed with the Resin Senorita Cameo that is on the frilly box, all of the luscious Wide Lace and Mini Rose Buds that are nestled on top of the box. Such an adorable little box would make for such a pretty display on a vanity or in a vintage vignette, don’t you think?

For the inside of both boxes, Rhonda used Distress Paints, Liquid Pearls, Alcohol Inks and Metal Patinas to create a marble type look.

I love the technique Rhonda used to get her “marble” effect. Seeing that (plus Rhea’s lovely, Cigar Box Inspiration Kit, using a vintage cigar box that Rhea filled full of goodies for an art partner) got me thinking. What else could the marbling effect be used on to give out as unique gifts for the upcoming holiday season?

How gorgeous do you think the Cigar Box Secrets Scrapbook Papers, with the marbling effect and Vintage Lace Tape would look on the New and On Sale! Paper Mache Jewelry Box, the Unfinished Cigar Box or the Unfinished Purse Box? I think the Paper Mache Purse Box would be really cute this way, and it could be used (as with the above boxes) as a writing box to fill up with items to use for keeping in touch with friends and loved ones: Envelopes, Rubber Stamps, Stamping Stuff, and Blank Postcards. What was that called… it’s an old-fashioned thing… oh, yes: Correspondence! If you wanted to give something on a smaller scale, the Paper Mache Treasure Chest would also work quite nicely. (And with that Books, Boxes & Shrines FLASH Sale, now’s the time to grab these boxes!)

Rhonda created a tutorial on how she made her boxes AND how to achieve the marbling effect! Yay! You can find more pictures and the tutorial in Rhonda’s blog.
