Language of Flowers ATC Book + Giveaway!

Another book design by our Design Team in preparation for our book challenge! We are asking each one of our Design Team Members to make a hand-made book (sized to hold ATCs… or made of ATCs, and using The Language of Flowers as the theme) and will be putting out the challenge to you as well!
And (I know — this may be shocking to some of you), this sweet, simple ATC book is by Design Team Member Laura Carson!
Such a simple design and so many possibilities! As Laura explains in her blog post:
“Continuing on with Alpha Stamps May theme of “The Language of Flowers” is a super-simple-to-make ATC book. The ATCs make up the pages of the book and are connected with jump rings. The cards accordion fold and are held together with ribbon. The first ATC in the book also serves as the cover.”
I love those gold oval frames used on each page of the inside of the book (see the little photo at right to see all the pages/ATCs when the book is open). Those are actually mirror frames with the handle omitted(!) from Laura’s Whimsical Frames Collage Sheet.
I also like the mixture of the 2D paper flowers with the 3D mulberry paper flowers (and brass leaves and insects). And those lovely sprays of flowers on each of the ATCs, from the Flora ATCs Collage Sheet. (Hey, and that collage sheet is on sale right now, as it’s part of the BIG Summer Garden Theme Sale going on in honor of The Language of Flowers ATC Swap!)

As soon as I saw this I thought of my gramma. She had these wonderful flower cards that were embossed and she kept them in her prayer book as place markers. Her friends would send them from Scotland (gramma never could afford to go back home) and my favorite was the heather one. Just looking at these, I can smell the aroma of her flowers in my head.

I love this book. It’s really appropriate for this time of year, besides, flowers are always in style.
It is amazing how just looking at these beautiful little flowers and decorations can have a soothing and calming effect.
Not a day goes by that I don’t check this blog or the alpha stamps galleries to get inspired. The pictures of all the wonderful creations , the supplies and the overflowing joy shared on these pages keep me going. I have been going thru stash building withdrawal due to my husbands recent unemployment but creating keeps my spirits up lifted. Perhaps with a bit of luck and confidence I might even be able to help our family’s situation by creating art. Thank you for the inspiration and chance to perhaps win some wonderful treasures.
