Tutorial – The Romance of Perfume Chipboard Fan

Alpha Stamps Design Team Member Laura Carson has created a detailed, step-by-step fan tutorial for The Romance of Perfume Fan Swap! I really love this tutorial and will not only be participating in the swap but I can’t wait to see all of the fabulous fans that will be coming through from it! (Check out the Swap Gallery for samples of different fans made by the Alpha Stamps Design Team!)
A couple of things that I have always wondered about in fan-making are:
a. How to assemble the fan. (Brads never worked for me!)
b. How to get the fan blades hooked together so that they will fan out evenly.
Well guess what? In Laura’s tutorial she shows you how to do both and after seeing how it’s done you will see that it is so very easy! I may even have to break out the soldering iron and connect mine with chain instead of ribbon. Hopefully it will work just as well as the ribbon does!
I’ll spill the beans a little bit here just for you, my Poppets! To hold your fan together, you need to use a Cotter Pin. A what? Wasn’t that the name of an old 70s TV show? Anyway, I had never heard of it before and now Alpha Stamps carries them! You just insert the cotter pin through the Fancy Fan Blades, trim the prongs and bend them back. How easy is that?! Now there is another thing you don’t want to do when placing the cotter pin, but to find out what it is you will have to read the tutorial. I know. Wicked me!
After reading Laura’s tutorial you will want to first rush over and sign up for The Romance of Perfume Swap so that you can put together a gorgeous fan. Then you’ll want to run over to Alpha Stamps because just about everything you need to make a gorgeous fan is on SALE!
