Design Team Showcase: Lynda Roddy-Ozzauto

Lynda Roddy-Ozzauto’s work first came to our attention as a frequent swap player in the Alpha Stamps Swaps. Linda is now one of the most recent additions to the Alpha Stamps Design Team and we’re very happy to have her on the team!

‘Being an artist all my life I have worked in many different media — including watercolors, pencil, charcoal, silk screen, fabric, rubber stamping and collage. I’ve designed women’s knitwear, done murals and portraits and have taught painting, drawing, knitting and design for 20+ years. I am relatively new to collage and started doing ATCs about two years ago and was immediately hooked! I’ll use any excuse to buy art supplies and have tried most of the products out there. I have a sewing machine, two knitting machines and a closet full of paper and collage supplies.

I like working with nature themes (birds, foliage) but I’m always looking for inspiration! To keep myself on my toes, I enjoy the swaps and challenges on Alpha Stamps and other sites challenge me because there’s an established theme, size, and a deadline. There was a time I thought creativity only happened in an atmosphere of complete freedom. But I’ve found that the restrictions of each swap actually allow me to be more creative – they give direction and help me to focus. I also read blogs, scour bookstores and take classes whenever I can (either on line or in person). I’m trying to learn Photoshop Elements. If something doesn’t sink in from all of this – I give up!

As the year wraps up I am finishing a sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project. Looking forward to next year I am going to learn Photoshop Elements, would like to get published, I want to work with encaustics and have become interested in working in 3D. I have a new camera and will start documenting works in progress – maybe I’ll even try videos to make my blog more instructional.

My biggest creative surprise is at the volume of work I’ve been able to do in the last two years and the variety of materials I’ve used!

I started a blog earlier this year and am honored to be part of the Design Team at Alpha Stamps.’
